Tips for Eve Online Character Creation
by windshell

If you’re new Eve Online player, you might like to know some tips, pros and cons for your character creation.
However, no matter if you are new EVE Online player, you probably heard that there are four playable races. That’s the most important aspect in character creation, because races are the base for any further character development.
Each race has its own strengths and weaknesses and it’s good to know which races are good and which are not for new players and Eve Online starters. Choosing the most suitable race will help you understand nature of your character as well.
As has been said, there are four races in game: Amarr, Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar and here are the short description of each race and some recommendations.
Amarr
Powerful fighters that deal considerable damage and are able to tank large amounts of damage effectively.
Strength: Their ships which are heavy armored powerful flying machines with a load of laser weapons and long-range capability.
Weakness: limitation to 2 damage types - electromagnetic (EM) and thermal which can be problem with certain opponents Also, they need solid support skills trained first to show their best.
* Recommendation:
Weapons: Energy Turrets (long range Beam Lasers and short range Pulse Lasers)
Recommended PvE build: Bloodline - Khanid; Heritage - CyberKnights; Career - Military; Specialization - Special Forces; Attributes: +3 to Perception and +2 to Intelligence (the latter can be changed to +1 and the additional point assigned to Willpower).
Caldari
Extremely ammunition-heavy race with a high usage of primarily missiles.
Strength: One of the top damage-dealing races. Missiles. A lot of them.
Weakness: Their ships tend to be a little more frail than otherwise. Due to high ability to deal damage but low ability to take damage can be a difficult thing for a solo start. Another disadvantage of this race is that if you follow the typical Caldari layout, you will always be paying for ammunition.
* Recommendation:
Not recommended race for the very start.
Gallente
One of the more versatile races, prized in both PvP and PvE combat.
Strength: Race offers the option of using drones, small, unmanned fighters that can be deployed during combat.
Weakness: The use of turrets, which will allow a close range attack which is fairly deadly, but can be dangerous to yourself
* Recommendation:
Weapons: Hybrid Turrets (long range Railguns and short range Blasters), Drones
Recommended PvE build: Bloodline - Jin-Mei; Heritage - Saan-Go Caste; Career - Military; Specialization - Special Forces; Attributes: +3 to Perception and +2 to Intelligence.
Minmatar
Often considered the best for PvP combat, this race relies on speed and raw damage output to kill their prey.
Strength: Their ships have a great deal of firepower and are very fast and very maneuverable, and thus very hard to hit
Weakness: Ships do not have a lot of defensive ability. Despite their speed and abilty to avoid damage, when they’re hit, the damage can be very intense. Like Amarr race, hey require longer training to be really effective.
* Recommendation:
Weapons: Projectile Turrets (long range Artillery and short range Autocannons)
Recommended PvE build: Bloodline - Brutor; Heritage - Slave Child; Career - Military; Specialization - Special Forces; Attributes: +1 to Perception, +2 to Intelligence and +2 to Memory.
Keep in mind that choice of race does not limit you in any way, but it can be a waste of time to start as a Gallente only to fly Minmatar ships because you will have to train the second set of skills from scratch. Also remember that you can have up to 3 characters on a single account but only one of them is able to learn new skills at any given time.
After you chose your race, you can start determining ‘less’ important features such as bloodline, gender, appearance and name (which are common features of all MMO games) and start conquering the space.
