Starters guide to Realpoor

by stec

Ok well 2nd article here, I'm aiming this at all the new members to realpoor as there is still a lot of people posting topics asking "how to get credits", "How do I post a trade" even though people like r1ky spent the time writing an article on how to do such a thing. A lot of this may just be aimed at the wow section as I don't have relevant knowledge of the other games to comment on trades for them, but a lot of this information will still be applicable to all sections.

I will be inserting links to relevant articles also created by other realpoor members, so I suggest reading these articles and if you feel it helps you in anyway then by all means leave some feedback.

Ok starting off with CREDITS, now these simple things are so easy to achieve all it takes is 9, yes only 9, posts. But a lot of people abuse this system which is aimed at getting people involved with the realpoor community, they seem to think one to three word replies are enough to get the credit (as in to be given recognition for trying) to be able to make a trade post. "lol", "yes", "hmmm", " nice acc" and "I might be interested" are all replies that can be accepted as  inappropriate replies, this is called spam or spamming and can and normally will result in your trade being closed and can also result in you being suspended or banned if you're a repeat spammer. So if you want to gain credits find some threads you know about, write some constructive or informative replies and give to the community of realpoor before you attempt to take.

Please refer to this article by r1ky for the exact working on gaining credits to create a trade:

Ok so you now have your credits available and your dying to get your imba full epix ud rogue up for sale, Create a decent title that will stand out let people know (if your game/item has country limitations) if your item is EU or Us let them know what level the character is. By putting EU or US in the title it stops all the questions in your post asking you which of the two it is. There is a very good suggested trade setup which is stickied in the exchange section of the wow trades created by Odus here’s the link to it:

Try to be as informative as possible in your post. The more information you post to begin with the fewer questions you get asked later on. Set a decent price, remember if it doesn't sell first time round create some more informative posts gain some credits and repost with a lower price (please remember to cancel your other trade first and state you are re-listing).

Once you are contacted about your trade try and keep your conversations based to the realpoor Pm system, it's safer for yourself and others, I know it's slower than you would like but it's worth taking a few extra minutes than making a mistake and losing your money or your account. The first thing you should do now is search the persons realpoor name, click search at the top of the page and enter their name there, you can now see what their other posts have been about and if there’s any reason you should avoid them. If you do feel the need to use another form of contact like msn or aim then make sure you screenshot every part of the conversation. Get the interested realpoor member to pm you there aim or msn name/email so you have a copy of it then Google the name or email address, you will be surprised sometimes what you can find. Screenshotting conversations is very simple open up ms paint (not sure what the Mac equivalent is) press PRTSCR, its normally located to the right of your delete button, the one with the <--------- on, or for laptops it's up in the top right corner of your keypad. Once you'e found and pressed PRTSCR go over to ms paint up to the top left press edit and paste, you now have a copy of your conversation. Try and get a copy of everything that's said.

Please refer to CompleteGibberish's article found here:

So you have now agreed the trade make sure to click on close trade and set it as payment in progress, you’ve chosen your payment method it’s all looking swell, once again get them to pm you there payment information. A lot of online payments are made by using the persons email, if they have pm'd you this then you have extra security. Never give out account information until the payment is in your respective payment options funds. After the payment has been received and accepted pass the information over to the buyer go back to your trade thread and click close trade again then set it as sold this will close your trade and give you some credits too, and that’s the end of the trade............   Or is it, well honestly I’d like to say it is but truthfully a lot of times it isn’t. People can and will try to get one over on you, not everyone just a select few, PayPal recently has been the worst for this people reversing payments and such all I can suggest for this is post all the info you took screenshots of in the hall of shame located here:

http://www.realpoor.com/viewforum.php?f=60&name=Hall_of_Shame

After posting in there, use the same information that you have gathered to dispute the reversal with PayPal, take screenshots of your pm's you received which link the scammer to there PayPal account and realpoor name, it's not guaranteed to work but it’s worth trying. One way that can help you before you get to this situation is  make sure you request the payment of them don't let them just send it to you, also post the disks to them then you have tracking information without this PayPal will normally just go with the person reversing the funds, it was noted in a post that a PayPal employee has said this how true or how much this helps I do not know.

There are other payments you can use as well, I have written an article on two of them link is here:

http://www.realpoor.com/articles/article.php?mode=view&hpr=PayPal_not_the_greatest_choice_&article_id=65&forum_id=0

I hope this can help at least a couple of you new realpoor members.

Please leave feedback if you find the need to do so.

If anyone needs any further help dont hesitate to pm me Im here most of the time.

Stec.
