Spotting a scammer

by coo_boy1

We have all been bunched up by scammers correct? The only thing is, can you tell a scammer from an innocent guy? So far in the past few days, I have wanted to trade with new people from RealPoor. Yes I do only use a MM(middleman) as it is the safest way to trade. Alright, so these new people all seem like nice guys, we are about to trade and then...I mention an MM. They either wanted to use an MM I didn't know, or 50/50, they told me "RealPoor moderator is just a tag, it doesn't mean anything." Now you see, that is not all true, they are Mod for a reason. And now they start giving lame excuses on why not to use a mod.

From reading this article what are your thoughts on this person? This person is new, has barely any posts, and doesn't trust anyone but his "official middleman," and does not have a reputation. 88% chance that the person is a scammer.

Here are some things you should notice, that can help you spot a scammer:

The person refuses to use a site official moderator as an MM because the person does not know the moderator. Well then why are you even trying to trade? Get used to the forums BEFORE trading.

The person wants to do a 50/50 trade and wants to make YOU go first, he/she also claims that they are "trustworthy" and "not a scammer". Most likely, the person is a scammer.

The person rushes and says the trade must be done now or never and you guys must not use a MM. If your catching on with this, whats your opinion? A. A busy person. B. He wants to do it quickly and is impatient. or C. A scammer.
If you choose C, you are correct.

Tips on not getting scammed:
Always use a moderator as a middleman.

Never use 50/50 unless you FOR SURE know the guy is not a scammer.

Always get them to pm you, especially in a instant messaging convo and they picked out a "mod" from RealPoor.
