So, if you notice there is a LOT of finger pointing and NO proof on most hall of shame posts. While this may seem ok to some, it is not OK if your making an accusation. You are REMISS in your duty as a member when you do not take advantage of your computer to get proof on people who visit our community and then take the time to utilize it as a kick off point for their scammed income.
Gathering proof is VERY simple. While some sites will take logs into consideration, i see them as a waste of time since it takes all of 30 seconds to edit one and make person A a bad guy when he was not.
On your keyboard, right side, before the keypad, TOP left key, above INSERT, is the print Screen key. (this is for those ho do not fathom or get confused with CTRL+c,v and so on) Pressing this key saves a captured image of your desk top. The way to retrieve and view that image is as simple. I will go Johnny generic to save time.
- Press PRT SCRN.
- Open MS paint. It will, normally, be under ACCESSORIES
- Click on the EDIT tab at the top and click on paste
You will now have an image of your desktop and your chat screen since your using this to take pics of your chat conversation as PROOF.
You will notice this is a BIG image. On the left are tools. One of the tools is a perforated box(A box made out of small lines with breaks in it ). Clicking and dragging that box over ares of your image, and clicking cut, will remove the portions that are irrelevant to your screen shot.
Once you have it cut to what you like,click on the IMAGE tab and click on ATTRIBUTES. Change the size of the image to ...ohhh....800x600.
Then drag the corners of the image in towards the body you want displayed ( the chat conversation) making the image smaller and more refined and displaying ONLY what is relevant.
Now,click on FILE, click SAVE AS and save the file to your DESKTOP (easier to locate) and name it.
Now you got this HUGE BMP file.
Now, you will go http://www.homeplansoftware.com/imgconv.htm
This program is called EASY IMAGE CONVERTER. It is free and a great tool.
Open it, save it, then create your desktop short cut for it.
Now, open the program, DRAG your saved image to the left side,click JPG on the bottom of the right side, click CONVERT and save to your desktop.
You will now have 2 images, with the same name, one being BMP one being JPG. JPG is the desired format for forum screen shot postings
NOW ! You will go to a service that offers image hosting. I recommend http://imageshack.us/ It is easy and hassle free.
Upload your Image and then come here to Realpoor.
Make your post, in the CORRECT FORUM. Say what you have to say. When you are ready to insert your image, use the following BBCode
[img] your image url here, http://imageshack.us/82345223908402398402 and then close it with [/img]
Notice the second tag has a / after the [ and before the img] that is important :)
Now, you can display screen shots of any conversation you have, just in case you get ripped off. granted this is only a small thing but in the end it is much larger than you might expect.
When reporting theft,screen shots help. An ISP will be able to tell if a screen shot has been edited. granted you will need MUCH MUCH more proof than a screen shot, but it is another piece of information that can be applied with other parts of information,to give your claim more weight and more credibility
I hope this helps and CLARIFIES how easy it is to screen shot and post and how it will protect you and others now and down the road, here and on other sites.
