Before Subscribing To A MMORPG remember this!

Due to time and costs, it is always best to start one MMORPG and stick to it. Before you subscribe to you a MMORPG, you need to make sure of a few things first. Atleast i do.

System Demands
First, you need to know that your system can actually the game. AS the MMORPG genre continues, look for system requirements to increase rapidly as well. If you can play the game on your system but you are not experiencing the game to its fullest due to video problems, look for a different game because there are plenty of quality MMORPGs  that still have low system requirements.

Cost Factor
More and more MMORPGs are raising prices to between $13 and $15 a month from $10. Below $10, you have a hard time finding a major MMORPG. My opinion though!

Graphics
If you have a high-end system, graphics could be a very important part of your decision to buy. Great graphics make it easier to stare at the computer screen for a countless number of hours. If the game hurts your eyes or you don't feel comfotable playing it, look elsewhere. Or you must have no eyes lol.

Newbie Help
Once you buy the game, you will either be helped by more experienced players to get you into game or you will not. SO, you need to know forehand if the game offers  experienced players who r able to help you and . This is why i joined wow years ago, but now people are too lazy or bored with beggers they hardly do now.

Character Development
This issue is more related in next generation MMORPGs then those before. You need to know if you can change the focus of your character as you progress in levels. Nothing is more frustrating that spending time leveling a character... to learn later that you made a mistake the day you created the character.

I'd have to disagree with you when you say the pvp in wow isnt that great. On a high-population pvp server, it's not too hard to find stuff to do. Also, leveling lowbie alts, then getting ganked, then logging one's main and killing them is the best satisfaction ever. Laughing

I would say make sure you are not the type that gets addicted easy. Make sure you dont have to many things going on that might be effected by it..

I agree with the sticking to one MMORPG... IF that one is only the one available at that time that can give some of what you are looking for.

For instance, WoW has great PvE but lousy PvP. I played WoW since beta and until now, there has been a lack of MMO's that could bring the PvP that Shadowbane or DAoC brought to the table. AoC has answered the call for those looking for a PvP-centered MMO with descent PvE. Granted, I only have a toon at level 21, but when our group encountered another group of players while we were questing... can you say "Fatality?" It was great, I can only imagine the end-game PvP.

As far as system demands, you are spot-on. I thought my 3 year-old machine could handle this year's MMO's I was wrong. I'm going to have to buy a new motherboard, processor, video card, and power-supply to keep up with the demands of the games this year whether AoC of Warhammer (coming soon).

As far as the "helping hand" peeps go, I do not mind helping out occasionally but I cannot stand the ones that spam for help or whisper for help and then ask you why you will not help them. I go into a game knowing that "If it's going to be, It's up to me." attitude and hopefully I find a good guild that is structured for enabling the leveler's until they can reach the final rank. Even then, helping out lower levels means money or loot that the helper is missing out on. "Time is money".

Character development should be done pre-character by reading forums and videos about each class so that no time is wasted on a boring-to-you class.

Great post, I would like to hear more on this topic from others.
