Age of Conan Fatalities by Classes

by windshell

One of the most exciting MMORPGs is finally out. For the first time, one game presents such unique combat system, where each class is capable to perform different set of fatalities – from decapitations, to impaling and crushing.

You heard well. This brutal ways of finishing of your enemies ensured the M rate for Age of Conan game. But, still, they are fun. Woo-Hoo!
There is a lot of blood splatter (literally) on your display after every fatality to ensure a realistic moment of the game.

But, question is how the fatality is actually performed?
Gamers are still debating whether the fatalities are result of performing a successful Combo or Spell or it just happens accidentally.
Also, it’s been discussed that fatalities of caster and melee classes are not the same.
While casters’ fatalities are just happening and not performing, melee fatalities apparently happen after a combo.  For example if a combo hits on the unprotected side of an enemy, it’s large percentage that fatality will work.
Also, melee classes like Conqueror or Barbarian usually decapitate their enemies, unlike caster classes (Mage and Priest archetype) which use a large portion of magic in their fatalities.

Since the Age of Conan game just recently hit the shelves, a question, are fatalities product of crafty usage of random combo moves or just random occurrence, will have to wait for a while.
Fatalities are however available both in PvE and in PvP of Age of Conan game.

Before you can perform Fatality, you first have to choose between 12 classes, minding that not every class is available to all the races, as well as not all fatalities all available to all classes.
Here are the classes and some fatalities they use:

Soldier Classes (Archetype):

Guardian

Available to: Cimmerians

- Guardian class uses one-handed edged and blunt weapons and Pole weapons as well, their fatality varies from decapitation, impaling, beating with blunt weapon or crushing the enemies' heads.

Conqueror

Available to: Aquilonians, Cimmerians

– This class uses a variety of one or two-handed edged and blunt weapons, as well as pole and throwing weapons. Their fatality is whatever they like to be.

Also, they have two special combo abilities:

* Guard of Dancing Steel
The Conqueror wields their two-handed sword with dazzling speed to keeps enemies at bay, make enemy blows easier to avoid and threaten swift and brutal counterattacks.

* Hew
A slashing blow aimed at the blood vessels and arteries of an enemy. The strike causes extra damage, a spray of arterial blood and leaves their opponent bleeding.

Dark Templar

Available to: Cimmerians

– They handle one-handed edged and blunt weapons, their fatality varies from decapitation, impaling (stabbing) to clubbin’ the victims’ heads while they’re on their knees.

Mage Classes (Archetype):

Demonologist

Available to: Stygians

– Armed with Fire/Electrical Direct Damage, they burn/electrocute their victims.

Necromancer

Available to: Stygians

– Unlike Demonologists, Necromancer use their Cold magic to finish their enemies.

Herold of Xotli

Available to: Stygians

– Besides magic for summoning, this class uses two-handed edged weapons and daggers, so decapitation and stabbing are options when it comes to fatality solutions.

Priest Classes (Archetype):

Bear Shaman

Available to: Cimmerians

– Despite being healer class, Bear Shamans use very well two handed blunt weapons, so their fatalities consist of beating helpless kneeling opponents until their blood splatters all over your display.

Priest of Mitra

Available to: Aquilonians

– Another healer class who uses one-handed edged and blunt weapons and likes impaling with the Holy Light for their fatality.

Tempest of Set

Available to: Stygians

– This healer class reminds a lot on Conquerors, because they can handle a variety of weapons. So their fatalities also come into variety of forms – from decapitation, clubbing, impaling and stabbing. And magic strikes of course.

Rogue Classes (Archetypes):

Barbarian

Available to: Aquilonians, Cimmerians

– Barbarian handles a lot of one and two-handed weapons which allows him spectacular fatalities with a lot of blood on the screen.

Assassin

Available to: Aquilonians

– This class deals with dual wielding daggers and poisonous attacks. However, it’s possible to see fatality decapitation similar to one of Thulsa Doom, under certain circumstances and proper combo moves.

Ranger

Available to: Aquilonians, Cimmerians

– Armed with various “small” weapons from one-handed edged and blunt weapons, to bows and crossbows, this class can afford a lot of interesting moves in fatalities.

Age of Conan definitely brought a new dimension of gameplay and graphics into MMORPGs. Although it might look over the top regarding violence and mature content, this game certainly set a milestone for other massive multiplayer games.
