I have had alot of luck with a warlock/mage combo in 2v2.. Lots of people go healer/dps in 2v2 but that gives you so little dps that its easy to beat a team like that.

Warrior Druid in 2v2 is my combo, we cant beat a full s3 mage and rogue.
My 3s is Warrior Druid Rogue, yet to be beaten.

It all depends on your playstyle.
I have a 70 resto druid and so far every team is beatable some are harder then other + if they know what they are doing.
For me some of the best combo's i have played with and come up against.
SL/SL Lock + Resto Druid BM Hunter + Resto Druid
MS War + Resto Druid Rogue + Resto Druid
Disc Priest + Hunter Disc Priest + Rogue
SL/SL Lock + Shadow Priest SL/SL Lock + BM Hunter
Mage + Priest Mage + Lock
Shammy + War Shammy + Lock
Rogue + Rogue Pally + War
Ret Pally + War Feral Druid+ Disc Priest
Plus many more again its all up to you.
I usually go resto druid sl/sl lock and i spec 8/11/42 for more of a defensive healer. As for the 2 DPS vs the 1 Dps and 1 healer. Its all on how you play i have found the 2 Dps teams are more stressful to play but easier with shorter games. But going against a 1dps and 1 healer teams can last for a long time and end up being a mana war. Hope this info was useful.

With very little experience in arena, I was able to get up to around 2300 on my druid with a good sl/sl lock and my gear wasn't the greatest either.
The biggest issue is the time consuming games vs other druid/lock or druid/warrior combos. They would regularly last 20-30 minutes and got extremely boring.

a good hunter/druid team would rape a hunter/shaman team.

Warrior and Resto Druid is awesome, so is Warrior and Feral druid, so is Warrior and Rogue, Warrior and Mage, Warrior and Lock. Two warriors, etc.
Everything is good with a warrior.
Rogue rogue is awesome for stunlocks.

My friend who got pretty high in arenas played with a rogue, and he was a holy priest (dunno the rogue spec). I played as an ele shaman, so it was fun, but I was only really good in 5's and on rare occasions 3's

from what i have seen the best set up for a 2v2 is either warrior / druid or warlock /rogue
