There seems to be some new password ripper going around as of a few weeks ago.
I am pretty careful about what I click on and download, and in the year I've had this computer, this will be the first virus/spyware type program I've picked up.
There is not a lot of info (that I could find from google) about this djohn.exe thing yet, but this one link was very useful:
http://privacycops.com/postt30937.html
files to search for, if you're worried about being infected:
djohn.exe
djrunner.exe
hyb32.dat
clctk.dat
and these applications in task manager:
xiepo$ter
x-okrecv11
Basically the program scours your computer for passwords and login names (and the addresses at which they were used) and sends it to a remote IP. The .dat files seem to be where the program will store your web traffic and passwords. Not fun. Anyone have any other info or a way to get this thing off my PC?
It reinstalls almost everything you delete, and randomly names the .dat files and certain registry entries. This is getting kind of annoying.
