First of all where do you live?
And if anything single people wouldn't get money it would be people who are married or with kids because the bigger the population the more money the government gets.

I am in Austin, Tx. I just heard single people get $600, married couples get $1200 and for each kid you get an extra $300.

its supposed to be a sort of refund for the outrageous gas prices. They want to send middle class single people the cash because they know we will instantly spend it on stuff putting it back into the economy: Thus helping it.

this is stupid, they are using this money expecting to stimulate the economy. They think by giving you (Middle class) money you are all going to go out and buy a Flat screen or something. It is by far the dumbest idea the government has ever had, i meen yay free money...but seriously??? How dumb are they.

I don't know of the exact amount but yes there is supposed to be a refund check sent out for taxes. It's to help the economy supposedly. I personally think it being an election year is to try instill hope in the government.

This "stimulus package" kind of seems like a bad idea. The plan is to give people a slight tax rebate to halt the economy going into the gutter (wow, this guy is more Reagan-esque than we thought--though this time it's less for the majority of rich people and more for the rich people in oil companies [i.e. the current administration]). As far as I know, however, all of this money is going to be borrowed from China because we already owe them some 1-2 trillion dollars and we're not starting to spend any less. Way to go, Bush.

For the guy who said you get 300 if your claimed as a dependent that money goes to the person who claimed you. Half the kids on campus are thinking they are getting $600 are gonna be sad when their parents get the check for having a dependent. ^_^
