I just saw a Rock the Vote ad saying "You decide if there's a draft this election!"

WTF this shit is sad.

Yeah that's pretty lame, I can't believe anybody is making an issue out of the draft. Bringing it back is political suicide, they'll just keep retaining our reservists instead. Razz

The whole Rock the Vote campaign is kinda preaching to the choir these days, if you know what I mean. I saw Paul Van Dyk spin (German trance DJ) this past April, and it was a Rock the Vote tour where people could actually register to vote at his events. Now basically it was a rave, so how many conservatives do you think were at that booth that night? I dunno, but I can't envision many of them registering while rolling.

And then there was that Springsteen, REM, et al touring going around...

I find it funny how the Dems lie and say we are using an illegal back door draft. It's in the contract they sign when they enlisted.

I wouldn't use that term, but thanks anyways!

You're 16, right? How many reservists have you been around? As for me, I've got some family, I've worked with many, and even dated a reservist. Rhetoric to the effect of 'they know what they signed up for blah blah' is great and peachy, but really 'be all that they can be' is not their mindset. For many, it's just some extra pay and a cheap thrill the occassional weekend.

I'm not surprised we're hearing more and more about their displeasure. If they wanted a military career... they would've joined the military.

I know. I think it's pathetic that many reservists only joined up for cash/benefits and are now p****d about fighting a war.

No I don't know any reservists but I know a few Marines and soldiers.

Then they need to stop sucking up my tax money if they don't want to do the job. Tax money is putting them thru school, paying their mortgage, etc..

Maybe its not the fact of fighting in a war. Maybe its the part about fighting in a war for NOTHING?

If you want a draft, vote democrat.

They are the ones that introduced the draft bill, which was shot down by every republican.

I guess they didn't put that in the Rock the Vote brochures though.

Then again, it is the MTV crowd. If my political viewpoint is different from theirs, I know I'm the one that's right.
