Does the wireless adapter have a pretty good range or does it have to be pretty close to the router to actually play a game on live lol ?

Well the farther away you go the less signal you will have and thus lowering the speed of the internet. You will want it as close as possible if you can't hard wire.

The range is acceptable as far as I'm concerned. Its able to go about 15 feet through a ceiling and a few walls.
It would depend how far away your console is as to whether its worth getting. If the cable wouldnt get in the way too much, I'd just use the cable since its cheaper (Adapter is £50) and you avoid problems with interferance and random connection drops.

Wireless is always a no-no when it comes to gaming. Save yourself some trouble and wire Rj45 cat5e or cat6 through your home.
