"The French funeral directors association said 10,416 had died during the first three weeks of August because of the heat wave and projected the death toll for the month from the heat wave would be 13,632."

Maybe I'd care if they were German, or Belgian, or Spanish.

French? Not enough of them dead.

Man, this is really a dilemma for me. I ordinarily hate the loss of life, but geeze, they were french.... this is really difficult. About the only thing that would tip the scales and really make me laugh if it was a bunch of evangelicals from texas... in one of their harvest crusades... by an act of god. Smile

I hope people don't seriously "rejoice" over this. How callous.

I don't, since it's french people I jokingly said something. I forget what that something was, but anyway. I posted this cause 10,000 people is a LOT of people. Thats a major event.

i mean come on, stupid people, no matter where they are in the world, are stupid people and do stupid things to themselves, this is no different

This will be the butt of jokes for years to come now. you watch and see

How about we make a term called "Kbarrishness", that could mean "Callous to an extremely high degree; such that no other human could possibly match it"

Wink

Rejoicing? Nope. I'm not pleased by it but I'm certainly not saddened by it.

If 10,000 Eduins dropped dead.. I might have to suppress a giggle. Razz

Rejoicing over this is very eh....is not like French from their part hate States so much that they were rejoicing over 9/11, on the contrary they offered their support and still help USA on the terrorism issue (Iraq is a different thing though for them).

As for the heatwave, it wasn't even over 40o C, that much heat is a usual occurence in most of the Mediterranean every summer but it was unprecedented for France. And, as per usual french nature, they started attacking and blaming their government for the death toll ( Everything bad that happens in France is government's fault).
