I got the Sony "planetside is shipping May 19" email. Is it worth getting? How's it compare to Shadowbane? Is anyone else planning to play?

it's pretty much Tribes 2 with a shitload more players
but it's better than SWG, at this point

Hmm, well like Paco said it is pretty much like tribes except with a monthly fee. The game has potential if they iron out a few things but I am not sure if I want to pay 50 bucks for a game and then 10-14 bucks a month on top of that for a FPS. There are too many free ones out there.
I would try to get a beta account an try it out first Sin.

There's not enough content to warrant a monthly fee as of now. The game is an endless tug-of-war. If there were no fee, I'd buy it. But the new Wolfenstein is gonna be free, so I'll be playing that mug.

speaking of tribes, the next tribes is coming out soon Tribes Vengeance using the Unreal engine, looks pretty cool.
I should have fun in PS atleast for a few months, mainly because i will be playing with mostly real life friends
the game does need a a little something at this point, the new base cap exp system might work okay.
most eveyone in beta seems to be more about geting exp and leveling than just killing peeps.
