Im looking to possibly quit playing WOW and was wondering if this game is actually worth playing... Im mainly a PVP player but am also interested in gaming lore and overall fun..

i got slightly bored of wow and thought i would try out a few diffo MMO's i stayed with city of heroes or rather city of villians for sometime until i realised at the highest lvl 50 there wasnt much else todo.
right when i realised this the burning sea came out and i played for about 2weeks, i didnt enjoy one part of it. maybes i just didnt give it long enough?
but i must admit after going back to wow i realised there isnt another MMO better.
until aion comes out

Yea WoW rocks the market for MMO, but that is to be expected as the amount of money they are making. Tough for smaller companies that try to create a game and just forced out because they cant afford to provide as many options as Blizzard does.

It's true really, I tried LOTRO / PotBS and ended up back in WoW..
WoW is just playable. I liked LOTRO but it had no real "draw" to keep you playing.
Similar to PotBS. You'll get going for about the first week and think it's the greatest game ever made! Then, when you realize 20 levels later, nothing has changed since level 1, you're still doing the same screwed up "in person" missions, and you've sunk or pillaged your 300th ship that was just like every one before it, you get bored, fast.
Is it worth playing? Maybe, for the right casual minded person who wants to get online and sink ships for an hour or 2 ever few days.
The economy is cool at least, and gives a little extra incentive to do something, but with how easy it was to make money pillaging other ships and missions, I saw not much need to continue producing any goods when I was playing. It cost more to be a crafter than you'd have ever made.
If they offered up a free trial, I'd say give it a go, otherwise, stick to WoW or wait for the next best thing..

Yea i play runescape for a long time then switched to WoW and loved it but then when back to my roots and then found out nothing really beats WoW.

Not much to say here really other than i played the beta then a few weeks at launch it was fun whilst it lasted but then slowly got tedious and annoying.

I think the game is still in the beta. The game was not rely ready for sale. It will probably be better in time.

This game looks very disapointing. I dont know why it would be that hard to develope a decent pirate mmo.

I asw the commericals and reviews and it seems that this game seems pretty decent, better than that other pirate game with Depp.

Potbs was a great concept. However they were not able to deliver in so many areas. The list of problems is too long to list, where as the good stuff is basically just the ship vs ship combat. However to play in the PvP content as there is very little pve content, you have to grind on that very little pve content for hours and hours on end just so you can have the right equipment. Once you've achieved that, if you lose in combat, you'll lose all your fittings you just grinded for hours to get. So the process starts all over again.
So not really worth the money. I'd wait a bit, as i'm sure at some point they'll hand out 14 day trials and maybe even lower the price as it currently isn't worth paying for.

In my opinion it was fun because it was new, but the novelty wore off quickly.
Not enough interactive gameplay, but the beta was free!

Don't even try pirates man,you will get bored in like 3 weeks max,i'm playing WoW atm but kinda switched to AoC since the 17th,i think that AoC is the game that u are looking for,atm there is nothing better out there until Warhammer come out on Nov.I have to admit tho that even that i'm bored fo wow it stills the MMORPG of all times  , hoping that warhammer changes that .

I also played it in beta, but this is a different type of game from what we're used to. Being on the sea makes it an entirely new ballgame, and limits it capability to prosper.
