What do you think of the 2200 rating required for shoulders in s4?
I think its a little much.. but that just because i come from a server where there is not alot of pvpers.. It is easy to hit 2200, but you need to find someone who wants to play hard and long to get there..
You will see the dead servers get even deader because people will transfer in order to find a pvp partner.

I hate the idea that the rating requirement is 2200, like anybody is actually going to get that high without being the best of the best.

now, i know the s3 will be discounted, does this mean the rating req will go away? or will it still be there just with a lower price?

It's going to be discounted, which means it will be lower.
I'm for the new 2200 requirement, even though I really doubt I'll be able to make it that high with my Paladin next season (I'll try though!). The shoulders are such a negligible stat item that I entirely approve of it being hard to get. It's a status item, pure and simple.
I'm not as thrilled with the rating requirements on the new PvP gear. I'll be able to get those easily, but I think if they want to put rating requirements on it they shouldn't make me play their stupid three-year-old battlegrounds to buy them.

Its equivelant to Naxx gear in vanilla WoW, it was something like 5-10% of players ever set foot in the instance before expansion. TBC is at its peak, no more raid sets/arena sets to be introduced so im not surprised they made it something that will take time & effort to achieve. When/if you continue to WotLK its something you can look back on in your bank slots and say "i owned at arena". Either that or buy into a team

As of 2.4.2 (comes out on wednesday) if your personal rating is 150 or more less than the team rating, you get put against a team with the average personal rating instead.

As of Tuesday morning (today) for US servers anyway:
| Quote: | * If a character’s personal rating is more than 150 points below the team rating, they will earn points based on their personal rating instead of the team rating.
* If the average personal rating of the players queuing for a game is more than 150 points below the team’s rating, the team will be queued against an opponent matching or similar to the average personal rating. |

I think making a rating requirement is great Keeps people from buying points and n00bs getting gear.

Blizz said requirements have been set so high since the s4 gear is the same ilevel as sunwell gear, so there wouldn't be much motivation for ppl to raid sunwell to get gear of the same item level as something that's much more easily accessible.
Good change. Performance-wise 1 item won't affect how your team does, its more of a 'i don't suck at arenas' statement if you're wearing s4 shoulders.

Well, you could just transfer your character over to the Retaliation battlegroup. That is probably one of the worst, and you can get a 2200 rating in no time!

The rating requirements are crazy, but it will seperate the experts from the nubs, I think it's a great idea, so you don't see all the nubs in the gear when they have no skill.
