Which of these two should I choose? I'm pretty much new to this game, and even in other games I haven't played the fighter types very much, arcane magic was usually my forte. Now in WoW, which of the two classes is more fun? I heard that pallys in PvP are usually treated as "healer first, everything else second", which would suck, so is that true?

Pretty much, yeah. Paladins are decent tanks and decent DPS guys too, if you deck them out right, (and if you ingore the fact that they have a crappy ranged and no AoE attacks) but their main benefit is usually the healing.

So if you want to play a DPS machine kind of guy, go for a warrior, not a paladin.

you dont have to "heal" as a pally you can tank, but if you want to be dps you will have a hard time finding a grp. pallys make great tanks and are the best aoe tanks. warrs are also great tanks. what i would suggest is to lvl both to 20 and see which you like better. bc on one can really tell you which to play etc...

For PvP as a Paladin your options are Holy or Ret. Holy is not very good in 2v2 arenas, alright in 3s, and great in 5s. It's kind of boring to heal with because you lack all the crazy tools that Priests and Druids have.

Ret can be good. Ret+Rogue in 2s and Ret+Warrior+Resto Sham in 3s are viable team builds for arena play. It's a very bursty spec and can be lots of fun, but you may get frustrated with the lack of snares, mobility, and spell interrupts.

Warriors are better tanks for the 25 man raids, they're also better DPS, better at PvP, paladins heal. Warriors can't heal. Razz

Pallies are more well rounded classes, they can heal, tank and dps, each to an extent. Warriors are dps or tanks, and can't really heal (heavy netherweave ftw! =D). Paladins can also buff classes with things like 40mp5, +ap, or +10% to all stats.

If you want to be more versatile, go with a pally, although you'll do each job less effectively (only slightly so) than a warrior.

Yes, this is a dumbed down version of the guide, there are situations where a paladin is definitely preferable to a warrior, but for all intensive purposes, that's what's up.

Prot, Ret, or Holy, my bet is on the Paladin vs a Warrior.

it depends on what you want to do, pallys normally end up healing or tanking end game were most warriors are just gonna be tanking end game if they want to find groups both classes can do decent dps but neither are ever wanted for it

I've played both of these classes and pally is definitely better leveling wise. If your going to level a warrior make sure you go fury spec and duel wield ASAP. Its always a good thing to roll a class that can heal itself, just sayin! Wink GL on your choice.

I would say a warrior. They are quite gear dependent though, but I guess so are retribution paladins.

Pallies are great because they have more diversity than a warrior. If you get tired of tanking you can always heal. Pallies are great for endgame. Warriors to me are the best endgame tanks though. Warriors are probably a lot funner in PvP though, as long as your arms, damn MS hurts.

Pallies are better for AOE tanking. Warriors are more win for tanking one thing at a time. For pvp warriors are in the top arena teams but you gotta have a druid with ya. Leveling wise, i heard pallies are pretty hard but be ready to run being a warriors and have lots of patience.

If you're thinking of pvping I would go with warrior. As a warrior you can at least do decently in 2v2 and 3v3.. as a paladin you will only excel in 5v5.

pallies are def more vesatile when it comes to raiding and pvp
your spec is basically changeable at any time as long as you have the gear to do it

warriors on the other hand are straight damage in areans and always tanks in pve, some times they are dps... but they are a waste of time dps in pve when you can take a mage or a huntard
