It largely depends on the caster varieties, the combat rules and the sound effects for me. Sounds dumb, but I can play a s**y-looking game like EQ1 as long as the magic and aggro systems make sense. SWG and DAOC have sy, sy aggro systems. Absolutely sy. Made the games completely unenjoyable for me. EQ1 doesn't have the best combat system in the world, in fact it's pretty lousy too, but at least it is controllable. You can depend on the rules of engagement to persist from mob to mob - and this gives you choice. Otherwise, if A Spider has pure f*g chaos aggro because you pulled it with a 1dmg nuke, versus the tank who is spamming 650DD crits on his Icey Venom Death Blade, yet can't peel it off you - what the fk fun is that god what a s****y paragraph

Same here. I didn't get my paws into either beta so im just gonna go with the most shiny looking one and stick with it. I would just do EQ1 but I quit that 3or4 years ago and personally I want something a little more new and fresh.

God, yes, the agro systems in, like, single player games blows goat ass. I was playing Morrowind and there was a quest where you have to escort this stupid warrior lady for revenge on a named crocodile demon thing, and she wants you to "distract it" while she kills it for the honor of her ancestors or something. This basically means stand next to it and take the hits for 45 seconds - 1 minute while she kills it. If it were EQ, she'd have stolen agro and gotten splatted like a level 62 wizard trying to tank in pofire after the, uh, first hit. Anyways, I was p****d because the arrogant b***h wasn't dead, even though I completed the quest successfully.

The thing about EQ2 is, maybe it will end up being a great game, who knows, but it's being run by SOE, the High Grand Vizier of Ignoring Customer Feedback, and the Prime Minister of Screwing Shit Up, whereas Blizzard has an excellent CS and QC reputation, which automatically makes WoW twice as good at EQ2. Although I'd really like to get molested by one of those succubi from the EQ2 website, and I haven't seen anything quite so arousing from WoW (Jesus Christ the night elves need to shave their eyebrows :/ )
