It's funny, while I solo quests and stare at general chat out of boredom, I sure see a lot of people complain about the smallest amounts of lag. I bet every single one of the people that complains about it hasn't ever played EQ. I don't know what everyone is running out there I'll admit, but come on, don't any of you remember looking at the floor while waiting for CoH in VT? Entering the bazaar before they had the hide trader option? I know on some servers it becomes a bit unreasonable in Ironforge, especially around the Auction House, but honestly with the graphical enormity of todays new MMOs, it's not that much to complain about compared to some of the consistent lag most people had in Everquest.

EH, I get a ping of 500+ and WELL over 1000 in populated areas especially when I'm near a raid force or in main gathering spots. I don't get nowhere near this bad in EQ or EQ2 when I played it even in a raid!

The first poster is talking about video chug and processor performance.
The second is talking about network latency.

Around 140, on average, ping here and rarely if ever get lag. The AH can be slow popping, but that's it. You both running at least a gig in memory?
And I am replying to both.
You must have chosen the wrong server and it is to crowded.

I played Everquest from almost the beginning and I can safely say I lag more in WoW than I ever in Everquest with the exception of plane of time raids with ALL the spell effects on maybe. Ogrimmar is just unbearable, I'll lock up in the same spot for about 5-10 minutes, then move an inch, freeze again and so on. Blizzard's servers are complete shit, they need to get it all in order.

You have serious issues.
Post your PC specs, what server you are on, and add in where you live in relation to that server.
