I got it for Xmas and I've only been playing for 2 days. Personally, I think the game is hideous. The chars, the landscaping, the mobs, just bleh ugly. But you can't argue style bc it's just your personal preference. I think EQ2 was much more visually pleasing. I do like that there are no zones, you can outrun mobs easily, and there is no death penalty. I'm playing a shaman and it isn't really what I was expecting, but is fun still. In 2 days (maybe 6 hours), I'm already level 10 and I spent lots of timing just running around not killing anything.

To me, WoW seems like the AOL of EQ2 so far. It's kind of like the dumbed down version. They seem pretty similar, but then again- I haven't played to over 20 in either game so things might change down the level road.

Worth trying? Why not. It's just $50.

No, iksars are ugly.

And I'm not going to argue stylistics with you. It's all personal preference.

I prefer the cartoonish look of WoW. I don't need super detailed models to enjoy a game. When Luclin came out for EQ I kept old models on because they looked 100x better IMO.

Not really worried on the graphics part, just wondering is there enough in this game to keep me interested. I got to level 21 (Halfling Dirge) on EQ2 and everything just went bland for me for some reason and got bored of it quickly.

I like everything to be pretty in games. But I agree with the luclin models, they were the suck.

Griz, I dunno about keeping you interested. So far all I've done in both games is do quests and kill stuff. I guess I just keep doing quests and killing stuff til I can't anymore. Maybe someone with more exp with WoW can answer that. That's why I said they seem the same to me so far.

Definately a personal preference thing. I didnt like EQ2, it just felt too cumbersome to me and the style just wasnt what I was after at the time.

I really enjoy WoW. I have seen so many pretty places in WoW. As for graphics, Yes, its cartoonish, but I do like the graphics, the variety of zones, the colors and the way they work the light during the course of the day and night is pretty cool. Perhaps that is because I am a professional photographer, so I love to see good light effects in a game.

Yes, mainly questing and killing things and tradeskilling.. but you get to explore (and get exp for it)the game is HUGE and pvp if that is your style, or play up through the levels with a tight group of friends or get into the larger raid guild thing and just have fun...also log off when you feel like it, which is a huge plus.
I am not sure what else a multi player online game is supposed to be or can be doing??

Also, I definately prefer Horde side. I try to play Alliance side, but I cant get into it. For what its worth, I've noticed that the number of little kids being a******s in newbie zones goes way up on Alliance side. I really wanted to play something that didnt feel like more of EQ/DaoC and I got it playing Horde.

As for long term? I dont know, but how many of us want to live in a game again for 5 years?

Game costs 39.99 in some stores.....give it a try .......or dont.

I think it is. I personally do not like the cartoonish look of WoW and love the way EQ2 looks. Although, I admit that WoW is a great game, it just is not for me at all.

I just think this genre is getting old, nothing is really ever innovative, or new. How did this game get best MMORPG of all time? It's all the same thing, you go up to a mob, cast your spells, use your skills, and move on to the next....or wait, you can get a quest to kill that mob and get a little more of a reward out of it. It's more convienent than other MMORPGS, that's the only thing that really makes it better, and it's why it appeals to more people...mostly the people who go and post on IGN or something about Everquest, and b***h about how bad the game was, when they only got to level 2. Other than being a little more easier on the player, it's all of the same.

I'm not saying it's better than EQ2, I think they are both at par. Both are fun at the beginning, and get old pretty quick, just like every other MMORPG to date.

I wouldn't have stayed with this game for more than a week if it wasn't for the PVP. They do make the whole 'Alliance VS. Horde' aspect pretty cool.

I myself will probably play until my free month expires, and see how I feel then. But right now, I can't see any reason to stick with this game for more than a month.

Then again this is just my opinion. There are people out there who think this game is the god of all games.

Agree.

I was playing WoW on my brothers account and I was loving it in the newb levels and also the fact that I can run that game at max detail and have the smoothest FPS on the planet... the game runs flawlessly

I cannot stand f*****g EQ2 and how s****y it runs and I'm running on a top of the line system.. No matter what I'm getting some f****n stuttering, its not bad but enough that it pisess you off when you go to a game that runs beautifully and pretty much the same aspect.

WoW is an awesome game and im debating right now if I should go to best buy and get a copy...

I should have elaborated on what I was saying (I posted this late night =\ )

Basically, my conclusion is that if I should go this game and end up feeling the same way I feel about EQ2 now, bored and feel like i'm doing the same shit over and over.

When I first started playing EQ2, I loved it and was so into it.. I didn't want to do anything else. As of now, I have no interest in logging into the game. My char is 31 and I see no motivation to level up.

Now I played WoW last night and Had that same awesome feeling that "I want to play it" but I'm looking into the future and asking myself if i'll feel the same way I felt about EQ2... understand now?

But the one thing thats dragging to me WoW is the battlefields and how smoothly the game runs, even in cities with 50 people around, not ONE single stutter at all.

Buy a lil computer game, play it and if you eventually get tired of it, cancel your account, delete, spend a little time with a support group and move on with your life. Its that simple!

WOW is the only MMORPG that has really truly entertained me and got my interest since pre Kunark EQ. It rocks. I'll agree, its character models are ugly as shit. But its gameplay is unmatched. PVP rocks. PVE rocks. Everything is really cool. And I never thought i'de say that about another "Eq style" game again

I don't like wasting money and I know some things that I would much rather spend $50 than a game that appeals to me for a few weeks (thats why I never buy single player games)

For instance.... an 8th... and still have $5 to to buy wendys.
