For anyone whos interested, the concept is simple -- Download the alpha client from suprnova.org and follow the instructions.

To join a server:
1.- Launch WoWLogin.exe from the WoW directory
2.- Enter the correct realmlist server (GotWoW.net should work), any username and password works, it will automatically register it for you
3.- After the game launches, click on the "change realm" button and you should see some servers there
** if you get a "authentication failed" error, it means the username you have chosen is already taken by someone else or that you mistyped the password for your username.

To create a server:
1.- Run Abyss2.exe from the WoW directory
2.- Click on "options", and set the continent and city you would like to use
3.- Close the options, and click on "start server"
4.- Launch WoWLogin.exe from the warcraft directory
5.- Change "Realm list server" to your computer's address, any username and password works, it will automatically register it for you
6.- After the game launches, click on the "change realm" button and you should see your server there | Tada, you're in World of Warcraft alpha. Make a character and log in.
Combat "kinda" works, you can kill mobs and gain levels. It has a variety of problems at the moment, a lot of monsters get cockblocked and stuck. Basically what happens is they freeze in place and you can target them but can't attack them.
Since pretty much all the spawns and quests and other content are server side, people who are emulating servers have to write it all themselves.
This means a lot of quests don't exist, and there aren't monsters populated all over the world, only in certain areas.
It'd be neat to find out how many resources it takes to emulate a server, might be fun to make one.
The game itself runs smooth as butter with max settings on my system.

Best sound is the gutteral demon growl my Voidwalker makes when he goes to attack. A close second is the dull "stick on rock" sound when I smash a skill in with my staff.

Combat only locks up when you try to loot, so don't loot anything.
