One of the most anticipated PC games of the year now has a launch date.
"World of Warcraft," the online world game from the makers of the incredibly popular "Warcraft" strategy game series, is scheduled to launch the week of Nov. 22, the Free Press has learned.
Most stores have predicted Nov. 15 would be the launch date for "World of Warcraft," guessing that Sony Online Entertainment's behemoth "Everquest 2" would come out on or near the same day. But Phil O'Neil, president, North America, of "Warcraft" publisher Vivendi Universal Games, said the game will actually launch a week after the company's other hot holiday title, "Half-Life 2," which debuts Nov. 16.

I've played all the classes up to 18 now and once I'm employed again will definitely pick up WoW.  Will probably play rogue.

No way, first off it would be on blizzards site first.
Open beta has not started yet, hunter and pally talents are not in yet.
It has been stated that they are pushing hard to get it out by the end of the year, but there is no way it will be released in November.

Vivendi's fiscal report states that WoW will be released sometime in Novemeber. Seeing how Vivendi owns Blizzard, I'm sure it'll happen when they choose, and not when Blizzard chooses.
Blizzard has a deadline, and I'm sure they'll make it. If they just slapped in Hunter and Paladin talents the game would be ready for retail for the most part (Which btw, those classes are getting talents next patch, as well as the PVP system and more raid content), and more polished then any other MMO out currently.

The new patch could be out by the end of the week or early in Nov. Open could start a few days after the patch. Game could go gold as soon as open starts while open lasts 2 weeks or so.
There is always the possibility.

last few games i have beta pretty much denied all release dates
until the game went gold.
i think they will really try to release it last 2 weeks of nov or first 2 weeks of dec .
i don;t think they would want to release it really that close to xmas/newyears

This is true, they said next week. Somewhere I read that it will be a cupple days after (2-3) the patch is applied, they will open the open beta.

in almost any other case you would be right, but blizzard is one of the few dev houses that is able to delay products against the wishes of their publisher.. which is largely why their games dont suck, vivendi is unable to force release games blizz makes... i think wow will be out by then tho since its almost done.

Well, my thought on the whole thing is that Blizzard and Vivendi both set the goal for November, and that's where Vivendi got the November release date from. I don't think VUG just pulled some date out of their ass and said "ship the game by this date or else". But yeah, you're right about Blizzard only releasing games when they're done, if only more companies did that (SOE anyone?) there'd be less s****y games on the market.
The game is pretty polished as is, I think after the next patch open beta will start, and the game will go gold once they iron out the bugs and start working on the next patch for content / bug fixes.
I've been suckered into buying every SOE MMO made up until now, I'm sorry but I don't have any hope for EQ 2 after seeing how EQ, SWG and PlanetSide turned out.

So basically, wait until the WoW front page says it'll be nov 22th.
I'm pretty sure Blizzard is fully owned by Vivendi, in which case they have to do exactly what Vivendi tells them to. A statement of some underpaid 'community relations' guy doesn't change my mind on that - but I guess we'll see. (Oh no! We're not puppets of the management... see, we just happened to come to the same conclusion as they did - independantly of course.)
Vivendi has been trying to get rid of Blizzard for a while now anyway, but from what I remember they'd only sell it in a package with some less desireable assets, so they never managed to close a deal.

Open Beta Signups Nov 2nd
Open Beta starts Nov 8th
Open testing and another patch 3 weeks puts us around 29th of Nov, 2 weeks to go gold and stuff.
Release Dec 14th
