Wizards in Dungeons & Dragons Online

So, are they anything like the "Vancian" wizards of Dungeons and Dragons P&P? I mean, I know there's a new magic system, using "mana" or whatever you call it, so does that change the class much? Or did they just convert the spells per day into mana costs and work from there? What about spellbooks, are they still in?

Spellbooks are in, and yes, wizards need to learn, scribe, and prepare spells in much the standard D&D manner. There's a set amount of spells per level, for example a 5th-level wizard knows 4, 3, and 2 spells in spell slots 1-3. But, they can choose to cast those spells any number of times per day as long as they have enough spell points (the "mana" that you refer to).
