Do you foresee yourself continuing to play EQ even when WOW and EQ2 are released? is there any way that a new game with limited content is going to be able to compete for your dollar? Or will wow and EQ2 only be worth it after 2-3 expansions?

I have high, high hopes for WoW. Even if it has a 1/10th of the content of EQ, if it maintains a semblance of class balance while making all classes fun and desirable to play, coupled with the already great graphics (I like the exaggerated cartoon type high color saturated graphics) then it'll be getting my monthly donation.

The best "content" game has been around for more than a year now Wink And its multiplayer is free.

My Druid 5 / Shapeshifter 10 is incredibly fun to play Smile

It'll be just like SWG. A few people will have a great experience for about 2 to 6 months.

EQ is the very last MMORPG I'll ever play.

Said it nearly 4 years ago, and with the exception of my free month of DAoC, I've kept to it. I have absolutely no desire to play another one.

I guess alot of people enjoy the 'newness' of a game, but that's when they're most boring for me. Newbie xp grinding? No thanks.

Neverwinter Nights Smile

The addition of the 2 expansion packs brought a lot of Prestige classes and some awesome abilities. It's also unbelievable to see the number of quality scenario, adventures and campaigns people will create.

If you've grown up in TSR's world, have access to a solid DM, the roleplay value is incredible.

You forget who is making wow. Yes it wont have as much content but by the time the majority of the ppl start to realize this im sure an expansion will be there or right around the corner. Blizzard does not put out shity games period.

honestly how can you say wow wont have that much content, bliz is hell bent on putting in tons and tons and tons of content.. EQ might have alot but realize that 90 percent is unused.. for all intents and purposes items from classic, kunark, and loy are worthless , exp from classic, kunark and velious is nearly worthless(prolly loy too).. velious is fast moving to join them on the item front with just the very tiptop of the expansion being worth it for anyone.. you can buy better items in bazaar than most expansion content including alot of sol.

Yeah, alot of people say the same about EQ2, but I am going to make it good for me, even if it turns out like SWG.

How meny of the zones from old expantions do you even use ? yes EQ has a ton of zones but how meny of them are 100% empty ?

as far as content goes , i for one think the content in EQ is old news . the whole game has that been there done that feeling. even new zones got old very fast because you are still doing the very same thing . hitting auto attack or jamming the heal/nuke butten . the only thing that changed is the shape of the mob hitting you , you have more hitpoints and the mobs hit for more . everything really stays the same for the most part......

WoW or EQ2 might be refreshingly different . Hopefully Less brainless games. They may not have as much content but the content they do have might be more entertaining . Lets hope they come up with a new way to progress your character that is a bit more challenging than purely based on the number of hours you play ....

You have a good DM and a schedule Cat? Id like to find a good game for NWN that is a regular thing..

btw I think the epic stuff is a little overpowering, my 25 epic wizard is summoning Red dragons for petes sake.

Tolanin:
by content I dont mean Items, items are a small part of content, there is shitloads in Eq for a new player or even a old player returning to explore besides getting the high end items to be the most uber.

I dont care if blizzard has worked thier ass off making content, AC1 has been making monthly content updates for years now and still has less than half of the actual content that EQ has, if you look at how big the game has grown with a unbiased eye you would see that in reality there is years of shit to explore for a new player.

would being a new player in EQ at this point even be fun ? is there anyone even in the noob zones anymore that are not bots/power levelers . Or even more to the point , anyone that wants to group with a nakid pally who only has his guild tunic and sword ?

EQ is not really for new players at this point is it ?

The WOW page lists 100 instanced dungeons and like 6 persistant 'world dungeons' in addition to the outdoor content. Depending on the size of the instanced dungeons that could be plenty of content to keep a server of fools busy for a year+ easy.

Let me guess Gutrippar, You were not a good tank. Probably a Thane or Paladin or Blademaster or Mercenary before they got fixed.

I played on a good server until a month ago when the DM "retired". I'm currently working on setting up a persistent world. Once I get things under control I'll open it to more.

Can't say much about the epic stuff yet, I just picked up Hordes...

Hack-n-slash is appealing sometimes, but not all the time. Chasing down NPCs in cities to hand them medicine vials, kill moss snakes for them, or whatever would be even worse.

"HELP ME _Occulis_ FIND MY CHILDS MEDICINE IN _The Tauren Home City_!!"

*4 hours later*

"HEERS UR 1/500TH OF A LEVEL . CONGRATS 2 U!"

while the moss shit holds true forsure . i hope they put a bit more thought into the quest leveling . Sure would be nice if you leveled faster because you were smart/lucky than just how fast you can kill frogs over and over ....

When it's all said and done, xp'ing is a grind no matter what. Wishful thinking that these quests will be more fun than killing the same frog over again... but actually they're not.

lolz.

DAoC the game wasn't what made PVP suck at times. It was the s****y players finding any advantage, no matter how cheesy, to win.
