OK, I have been a happy user of wireless internet for my laptop for years...

Yesterday my girlfriend brings over her brand new laptop, fires it up and WOW, there are 7 UNLOCKED wireless access points within range, and one of them is me.

I start thinking about it, and decide to download something off my old laptop... turns out I am hijacking someone else's connection and I didn't even know it!

2 Questions:
1. How do I lock down my [Ethernet Wireless Access Point + Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch] so that only I can access it? (it's linksys).

2. How can I get an older laptop to show me WHERE it is getting it's signal? (girlfriends rig gives her a drop down list, all with names).

I need protection!

Thanks in advance,

Login to your router... 192.168.1.1 if you didn't change it.

Go into the Wireless tab and set it up so only MAC addresses you specify can be on your network. Also setup a 128-bit encryption.
