|

Have a Linksys Wireless G Model # WRT54GP2A 2 phone port Router. And I get disconnected all the time. Their Tech support is absolutly useless. its just random disconnects, Says cable is out, have a cable modem but the lights dont go out when it happens. There is no firmware upgrade for it. Anyone have any ideas what it could be and how to fix it"?
Thanks in advance

I've had a WAP54G (wireless hub/switch) for years now and it's been flawless. Have you tried changing the cable that goes from your modem to your Linksys? Is the connection loose at all?

Get the beta or 3rd party firmware from linksysinfo.com. Fixed all my problems I had with my WRT54GS.

keep a constant ping going to the Linksys and one to some IP on the internet and just minimize the windows ... then you can check later and see if the link to the 'net or to the Linksys died.. if you're always getting to the linksys it could be the cable modem, if you lose connectivity to the linksys then you have a problem with the router.. good place to start atleast.

Yeah i have the same problem, i keep getting disconnected (usually for about 30 seconds at at time tops) randomly and it boots me off of IM. Unfortunately, i think that its my fiberoptic internet back to DSL i guess in a couple months
