|
|
|
I've got a wireless network setup at home with just 2 computers.
One being the server, with the router (MultiTech) connected to it and the modem, and the other computer connected through a Wireless USB Network Card (D-Link). When I had just one computer connected straight through the modem I had no problems what so ever with connection and stability. However after switching to wireless some time ago I become disconnected from the internet periodically causing EQ to LD, AIM/MSN/KaZaa to disconnect, and all downloads to cease. Very shortly afterwards (5secs) connection is resumed on the network and the internet is usable again.
Basically I'm just getting randomly disconnected for seconds at a time.
Anyone else have/has these issues or know how to correct them? Any help would certainly be appreciated, thanks!

yeah I was using wireless networking on my laptop for a while, it would constantly disconnect for no reason and cause other computers on the router to lose internet access forcing me to reset the router
no idea why this was happening, but I haven't used wireless since

Wireless will do this. Check for any other 2.4GHZ products in your house (mainly cordless phones) and try turning them off. Microwaves have been known to interfere to. If that doesn't help, you're basically f****d. I tried to go wireless with 2 different brands, and eventually just realized it sucked. Get a good wired SMC router. You won't be dissapointed.

wireless is a piece of shit.
just stick with the old fashioned cable wires.
They clutter but they're stable.
unless you take a kitchen knife to one of them...

There are alot of different issues you could be having. Do you live in a home or an apartment? What other appliances in the house could be running on the same frequency, etc.
I live in a congested apartment at the moment and there is no way in hell I would attempt wireless (no matter how much I would like it on my laptop).

Make sure the wireless router isn't set for an idle disconnect.

wireless is a pain sometimes, but nothing like checking your email in the living room, kitchen and bathroom ^^
