Windows xp help! Windows installer is fawked

Im trying to install a bunch of stuff and it gave me some error about windows installer. I search around and find the website and I download the fix but after reading arond and looking around im pretty damn sure my windows installer is installed badly or corrupt. I used the windows xp off r00tus's FTP...can anyone help me get a good version of windows installer? this is driving me nuts. thanks!
