I've given up and the computer is about to go out the window. My puter quit booting and when I tried to do a new install I keep getting.

\i386\halacpi.dll
Error Code 7

What is this?

need to be a little more specific.

what version of windows?

are you starting from a clean drive?

what is the full error message? dose it say it can't install it or it cant find it?

i would start simple and make sure the disk is not scratched. also is the drive a scsi or on a raid array?

if so make sure the drivers are instaled when win xp askes if there are any 3rd party drivers.

win xp cd should be bootable. change bios first boot to cd and when it asks which parttion you want to install there should be a menu to delete partitions. if there are more than one and you do not intend for it to be that way delete them all and then format again.

it shouldnt give you any trouble. if you can get the exact error in full i might be able to know exactly what is wrong.

anyway gl with the install

As far as I know that dll is for non-plug/play ACPI devices. If you mess with the ACPI bios settings you can mess it up. I'd first turn off anything related to power control in the bios, then reinstall.

It's FIXED... Well the problem was with the motherboard... I tried a couple different drives and got the same error... Narrowed it down to the motherboard and the processor.. So I put another chip in that machine and tada... COOKED THAT CHIP TOO. So I'm off to get 2 AMD 1700 processors and a motherboard.

I love it when puters work fine, but when something is wrong it really sucks. I liked that raid board too and I can't find one anywhere in the Philippines.

Thanks for the help

np. ive been having alot of problems with my amd boards lately. i smoked 2 2200+ on them when they first came out because it had a voltage problem.

amd is falling way behind. when i upgrade again if amd has not come out with some new stuff im going back to pentium for a while.
