I've been using it since beta. I actually made it my primary OS in January (beta version) and have yet to BSOD or crash. The biggest difference between this and 32 bit is stability. Otherwise its identical. As far as performance goes, it does feel snappier, and all around faster; however, for gaming there isnt really a difference in FPS...only in load times and such. I personally havent had any issues with drivers, although there are still quite a few drivers missing (i.e. Logitech Cam drivers), and have heard of peeps not having printer drivers.
I say go for it. There arent any 64 bit aps as of now, but like I sd, 32 bit aps feel snappier. Of course you will need a 64 bit processor, and make sure you find all your drivers BEFOREHAND. Also note you will need to do clean install. Lemme know if you have specific questions-

It is final now. Forget getting a cracked copy, it aint gonna happen on this version. I can go into details, but it'll bore the shit out of you :p Anyway, As of now, it is OEM only, which means you have to buy a piece of "relevant hardware" to be able to buy a copy. It is available via a number of channels...www.monarchcomputer.com, newegg, and thru what I recommend www.planetamd64.com. Just buy like a power cord or a mouse for 10 bucks, then the OEM copy for 155-170. It will be a full install.
Its in the way MS verifies XP. It used to use what is called check sum verification, which means a combo of letters would = a valid checksum. That is how most companies verify copies. With a keygen, it generates a valid reg code based on a preset checksum. The way MS is doing it now, it verifies the reg code against a database of *known* reg codes that it has released. If it doesnt match, no updates for j00.
If you want to run your OS without any updates or security patches, thats fine, although its pretty stupid. If you want updates tho, gotta have a legit copy. In all honesty, even as a beta tester, I will be buying a legit copy...and it will be the *first* legit OS I have ever bought in 10 years of computing. No way around it.

Coz youre trying to use invalid reg codes, or someone elses. |
Uh. No. How does it check to see if the reg code is taken? The only possible way is to connect to the internet. This is impossible, especially when the driver for the NIC has not been installled, nor plugged in the router.

ooohhhh the activation code...you sd it came with 12 seriaLS??? Thats a new one for me...I've seen cracked copies come with multiples, but never a legit copy...also...is it XP64 or XP?

No the serial. You know... the TET93-3D400-ET99E-38803-UT003 crap. This wasn't a legit copy. It was off isohunt.com. And yes it was the 64-bit version. The splash screens were all saying how amazing 64-bit is and blah blah blah.

ok, Like I originally said, 64 bit XP cannot be cracked. If it's not a legit copy, it aint gonna install. Just for s***s and giggles...do you know what build it is? (I can tell you if its beta or final release) |
Why can't it be installed? I thought the problem was not being able to get updates. I'm sure it can be cracked. Anything can be cracked. Do you work for the music industry? =p

LOL not quite sure what the music industry has to do with it, but I'll bite...I'm a network engineer, Cisco, Lucent, and MS certifed. The reason your codes dont work is coz they are bogus LOL. For example...XP64 has 5 major beta releases. Even as a beta tester, I had to request a serial, that was emailed to me. If I tried to use a serial from release 2 (just to keep it simple) to install release 4, it wouldnt work. Goes back to the check sum comments I made before. You have bogus sserials bro. Sorry
And no, not everything can be cracked. This comes from someone who downloads prolly 6 to 7 gigs of programs a week to try out. And like I sd before, this will be the first OS I actually buy...no way around it. And...um...to my knowledge EQ has never been cracked....

So every version has its own algorithm for a serial number. This still means you can generate a serial for it. I doubt they press every CD hardwired for only one serial number. So in my case I guess I didn't have the right serial. This doesn't mean it wouldn't install if I had a serial generated from the right version.
Everquest is cracked. You just can't use it on their servers because they will catch you. Same concept. You will be able to install XP64 on your computer and it will function. Just expect to get your updates another way. I see mirrors of windowsupdate.com in the future.
Oh, and about the music industry... it was a comment about them tring so hard to make their CD's pirate proof, but anything they do is counteracted in less than 24 hours.
ok, I'll concede, but to me, a cracked version means you can use it just as you would a fully legit copy. Every cracked piece of software I have works that way. *shrug* As far as mirrored updates, too soon to tell. But it definately is the end of pirated copies as we know it. Good luck with that crack-
