what are you trying to change?

try logging in as administrator and changing it.

you might just have your internet security set to high or something.

You do not currently have admin access. If you do not know the admin account information you must reinstall the operating system.

I have worked for a couple months now trying to develop a password hack in XP to no avail. So I would not hold your breath on hacking in otherwise.

The high security option in Internet Explorer (r) would not limit you under administrator access.

im not sure if it works for xp but in 98 , me and 2000 if you could log in you could delete pwl files and there would be no passwords. if the admin account is on the local machine you should have no problems deleteing the passwords.

ill try when i get home and let you know. thats why i never use the admin accounts for regular use. it can f**k shit up if you miss something. as long as you dont use the account you installed under you can always fix things. i though windows xp when you installed it asked for an admin password , then made an account for use but i may be wrong. its been a while since i have reinstalled

Try Start, Administrative Tools, Local Security Policy. There's a few things in there to check, like if you have any restrictions.

Also, make sure your user name is in the Administrators group (right click my computer, Manage, Local users and groups, Groups, administrator). Things you can try, you might have done them but it's a start. (ps. are you on a domain at work or is this your home pc.. if it's work, they can lock you down just because you're a member of the domain, so you get the domain policy forced down.)

Using anything like spybot or anything? Some of them have a "lock" for the home page etc, and will give an error till the option is unchecked.

If it is a trojan or worm, one of the best ways I have found to fix it is a little program calle SDfix. Google it. I found the best way to solve this problem is to run linux. I have gotten every game I have ever wanted to play to run fine on it (after some tweaking of course) AND I don't need a virus scanner. Check out Ubuntu and get rid of Winbloze forever.
