How can I take control over a pc from another pc? I wanna be able to have full access and scare the shit out of my roommate when he is drunk, playing MP3's .
Even if I have to install a program similar to pc ahywhere/laplink, but I dont want to make it obvious.
Both pc's are XP pro and running off the same router/network/
Any assistance would help out...

Thanks

anyways....

download tightvnc

Install it as a service and set up the password.

Then go into the registry and delete the key in computer>software>microsoft>windows>current version>run> will be something like "tightvnc.exe -servicehelper"
That will disable the icon in the task bar, so he wont know its installed. Then just reboot, or kill the icon in the tak bar and manually restart it.....if you dont know how to restart a service, it's best to just reboot

after that, install tightvnc on your machine, and log into his, you can set it so you view only, or you can set it so you take control completely of his computer.

I use that all the time to work on my home computer from work, and work from at home. It's also cool if you want to keep an eye on employees or whatever, because if you click the "view only[inputs ignored]" option on the client before you connect, they wont know you're watching at all.

It's even somewhat reliable over a 56k connection if you set custom compression level to 9, and jpeg compression to 0, and turn them both on.

only problem with disabling the icon is, you cant set options on the server, it all runs default.....so if you use tightvnc, you make the desktop wallpaper disappear.

Why do you guys have to make things harder than they are? use the built in remote controll program in XP. only issue with either is, you need to know the login namd and password for the host PC (pc you are connecting to) and the IP address. It runs in it's own space so the user will not really be aware you are on his PC unless he notices teh degredation of performance (minor)

I used netbus I think...was really fun because my roommate would always fall asleep in front of his laptop, and I'd eject the CD-ROM and it'd smack him in the forhead.

The issue with Netbus and other trojan type programs is they are all detected by any antivirus software and removed.

Did it with WinVNC too
