64 bit is years away before it will make any impact on the gaming industry... i mean shit nvidia cant even make decent f*****g drivers for 32 bit OS's...... and most gaming dev's haven't even touched the 64 bit architecture for games.

Well I wouldn't worry so much about 64bit as that will come in the next year or so. I would worry more about mutli threaded applications.

For gamers it is super hard to make certian types of games (FPS) multi threaded because of the order the information needs to be recieved.

I'd say by Q3 05 we'll start seeing more 64bit multi-threaded applications and by Q2 06 it will be common place.

If you look at the direction of dell and intel by 07 64bit and multi-threaded applications will be standard.

People have had multi-processor machines for years, if not decades. How come we haven't seen a preponderance of multithreaded applications yet, o great one?

Why the f**k would anyone need a multithreaded word processor? And how would you multithread photoshop? I could maybe see doing it with cg animation, but other than that ... ?
