When I download from WindowsUpdate, I am unable to install any of the updates. Downloads fine... but nothing will install.

Anyone ever had this problem?

Yes, I have that problem on my laptop Sad

What error message are you getting? If it is the same as mine, forget it--MS has no solution to it that actually works Sad I posted on their tech boards--and had a fast response-- and had email correspondence with someone (they do that for free and FAST when it comes to Win Update)

This is what I get:

Code:
WARNING: GetUserTokenFromSessionId failed with hr 0x800704dd
* WARNING: Exit code = 0x80240020

This is also on a laptop. You don't have an HP ze5270 do you? =P

Yeah, you need a valid CD key now to download updates. No more updates for me!

find a program that displays the winxp cd key

put it on a floppy
take it to radio shack, best buy, wal mart, some shit like that, and steal their corporate key

change yours to theirs

move on with life

Ok, I get this one:

[Error number: 0x800703E3]

The files download, they are copied 100 percent, then this message pops up.

2 ways to bypass windows update

the first is in internet explorer click Tools then Manage Add-Ons. If you see Microsoft Genuine Advantage or whatever just click on it and disable it.

if that doesnt work

when you get to the screen that has the option of Recommended or Custom paste this into the address bar and press enter

javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

then select whichever one you want

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY HANNUKAH!
KRAZY KWANZA!

I had already tried this one. The problem doesn't seem to be related to the MGA thingy.

A Microsoft tech helped me fix the problem.

The internet said to delete some folders in the windows directory. That didn't work.

Microsoft sent me a registry fix. That didn't work either.

But used together, it now works. Yay.
