I mean Blizzard reign over the market cannot last forever. Some comapny out there (will probably have to be an already large company) will have to beat them some day. Eq1 was eventually beaten, UO was eventually beaten.
I am personally awaiting AION but do not expect it to be a WoW killer at all.
Darkfall was probably the most anticipated flop of the generation, and everyone thought that would be a WoW killer, Warhammer online even before Darkfall's release.

Obviously there will have to be sometime. A lot of people expect Star Wars The Old Republic to do it, it is from Bioware. So if any has the best odds i would have to go with that 1 as far as the near future is concerned. That really depends on if they do it rights and do not s***w up as well though. Either way it will take some time for whichever game does go that far to actually get to that point.
I pray that TOR will be able to topple the WoW giant, but I'd would just be happy if it was a well rounded game. And I personally believe there are a few games that are better then WoW, but come from smaller companies. Shadowbane was, by far, a better game, though it just recently died, and Darkfall is a fun game to play, its just the grind that really kills me. I'm a PvP fanatic so WoW got old really fast.
And I wouldn't say Darkfall was/is a flop, it's just not for WoW fanbois. I mean, it's cool if you love farming and RPing, but darkfall is about pvp and seige warfare, two things that WoW almost competely ignored, regardless of the BGs, biggest waste of time and money ever.

lol, of course there will. This is generally what the trend looks like from my experience: Really good game comes out (almost a decade ago, it was Everquest1) and for the next 4 years every decent looking rival game that releases is the "EQ/WoW-killer" game. You've heard it a thousand times playing WoW of how ppl said that games like Lord of the Rings Online or Age of Conan or Vanguard was going to "kill" WoW. This goes on for a while until one of two things happens: 1) a hot new game that comes out that really is better than WoW, similar to how WoW built upon the concepts of previous MMOs and weeded out the problem areas; or 2) WoW drags on for so long that people simply are tired of it after 8+ years and finally the game declines into nothingness (where EQ currently is).
Wow will never die, just like Starcraft or Warcraft 1,2,3 or Diablo 1 & 2 never died.
And the only game that will dethrone wow, is the next MMO by Blizzard.
Aion wont kill wow (because it's nothing new, just a nother solid korean mmo)
SW: Old republic - we will see about this one. Bioware have no experience in MMO industry at all, they wan't to bring single player cRPG story to the MMO. Too early to say anything, only hype so far. All we know, is that Mythic will Bioware (and many people are concerned due to that fact, as we all know how WAR ended up).
Blizzard is the best gaming company on the planet (either if u like it or not), they gather the most telented people in the industry, they have unlimited budget, they never rush games.
So far, preety much every new MMO fails, either if it's AOC,WAR,Darkfail...
Aion won't fail for sure (played euro cb4 & cb5) because it's a very polished and overall solid product, but then again, it brings nothing new to the genre. And people will get bored with this one very fast.
MMORPG market is a desert right now, so I will just upgrade my pc and I'm moving on to single player games. A lot of good titles comming this autumn.

I don't understand how WoW became such a "Great Game". WoW has nothing special compared to other games out there and in my opinion, I think WoW is a PoS. I've seriously tried to like it but even in my opinon, Runes of Magic was much better. It's quests are rinse and repeat just like any other MMO out there, yeah sure, the community is bigger but I noticed there are more children running around but what does it REALLY have that other games don't? WoW is a duplicate of other games so let's not put WoW on such a high pedestal. I played Runescape longer than I could withstand WoW lol
