Is Everquest your last MMPORPG?
I have a few friends all from the same family. Infact it is/was a family of EQ players. Mom , Dad, and both sons played EQ. The oldest son quit. The younger son plays a new toon everyday.
Over x-mas break I was at their house and the mom and day play pretty hardcore. So I asked them are you ready for EQ2. The both looked at me and said nope. The will play EQ until the servers come down and they will quit.
This surprised me because they seams like they would want to play EQ2 and if nothing else play EQ until the servers go down then switch to EQ 2. They said it just would not be the same, no matter how good EQ 2 or any other game was it wouldn’t be EQ.
I admit I couldn’t see this family without EQ. It’s like a part of them kind of like never watching T.V. again. I thought maybe they would reconsider but I believe them when they say it will be over after EQ is gone.
I myself like an ongoing game. I love good single players but I need at least one ongoing game so I know I will be playing EQ 2 or WOW or something.
But I do admit I understand what they meant about it not being the same. The whole community will change the new players the new system.
I admit with all the drama I wouldn’t have wanted to at least start my play time on any other server. No matter how hard people try they wont be able to keep communities and friends moving into EQ 2.
So I can understand why for some this would be the last game of this type they would play how about you?

the true die hard mmorpg people wont give up just because the game dies. The addicts will move on to the next big thing

I'll go pretty much wherever the people are. This morning I was in PoK and only about 12 people there. I was like, 'f**k this!'
Fortunately it was all a hallucination and I realized it was only 12 people per square inch.

I will be going to EQ2 without a doubt. I played EQ from day 1 till luclin before I got tired of it and many of the problems i had with the game have been addressed in EQ2 =)

i wonder how long they will have the servers up and running... like... how many more years lol... i sure hope im not 90 yrs old and aluaeia is still playing on TM. eq should die at some point

 look at 'The Realm'
I think as long as people still play they will keep them up. I personally would keep playing if they kept releasing expansions, but i'll most likely officially quit on the last expansion.
