We definitely NEED a political forum.
The reason we have forums for EQ, EQ trades, CoH, etc is becuase while there are a lot of posts about those subjects - they only interest the people involved and those people talk about them regularly.
This applies 100% to the subject of posts about politics. Let's face it, every single post is has around 5-8 people in it - KBarr, Vekril, WNWS, Vekril, Frax, Nobu, a few more, and then me making fun of the political post and saying how worthless it is.
Let's face it, as important as politics are and as important as it is to the people who discuss them, the major population of Realpoor doesn't give 1 ounce of shit. Sure, there are occasional times when a certain subject interests me , like let's say business. But when or if that subject comes up in a different forum it doesn't hinder my ability to find it what-so-ever. We already have like 15 different fourms, and even though some are used very little, none of them have hurt Realpoor overall. Every person who wants ot talk about EQ, SWG, or DAoC has no problem doing so. And on top of it their posts aren't lost in a sea of miscallaneous ones about different subjects, they are easily found by those looking for them.
The only downside a political forum would have is that the people who get off posting and/or replying to them would lose their forced audience, which is more or less half the reason they talk about politics.
To sum up, Realpoor is not about politics and never has been. There is no reason for political posts to not have their seperate forum. Occasionaly some political topics can justify being in multiple forums. Who won an election, another 9/11, etc. But the vast majority don't care that someone found out John Kerry has a 3rd ball or George bush mis-prounounced some word in a speech.
