I mean, people like you guys that have decent enough computers to run fairly high end PC games and broadband connections. Why would you waste your money on an X-Box or PS2 or whatever?
I bought a PS2 two summers ago, bought NCAA Football 2002 and Medal of Honor (at the time those were both brand new games ;p). Other than playing my brother and some friends in that football game...I never, ever played it.
I'm not saying the games aren't fun...but you can find something of equal or better quality in an online version where you can play against other people. I can only kill so many CPU's in Medal of Honor before I get bored. It's always fun to pick off people in BF1942 though, b/c they aren't CPU's, and it's funny to watch them talk shit 
As far as X-Box/PS2 LIVE goes (or whatever their online versions are called), I've never tried or seen them so I don't know how they compare to playing online on the PC against other people in a first person shooter. But after using the PC to play first person shooters, I just can't go back to using the f*****g joystick thing (or the left-right-up-down) controls to aim a gun in first person mode. The mouse is just so much more efficient.

i play because they are fun.
yeah multiplayer games have WAY more replay value, but games like metroid prime and the final fantasy series, and MARIO KART DOUBLE DASH!
are simply above and beyond when it comes to funnitude.

Well, Mario Kart was always fun as hell to play, I'll give you that  I guess maybe it's just that the majority of my friends don't play alot of video games...and lets face it, console games do suck (96.5% of the time) single player.

I bought a game cube for the multiplayer games. I've always been a sucker for mario karts and mario parties. It's something that me and my friends can sit down and chill with. Nothing like beating my roommate's ass at Soul Calibur 2 after a long day of classes.

Unlike EQ, console games can be beaten. That's why I play console RPGs. There is an ending, as opposed to bitter tears and indulging in food to cope.

I wasn't really referring to EQ, more of the first person shooter type (that can be played online against other people instead of just the normal CPU's). But even then, if a game can be beaten (therefore, replay value=shit), you've wasted money

and then there is this one exciting game called "imma cut your wight cracka ass if you don't drop dem keys to your porshe"
that game was fun but we trashed it and ended up with some f****d up bruises all over our heads, arms and legs.
but we pushed it off a cliff into the bay, its all good now.

Becuase I am an Classic RPG/Fighting game freak and most of those never make it to PC (Or are crappy ports if they do). When i say RPG i dont mean shit like morrowind or Baulders gate. Im talking SHadow Hearts, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Tales of Phantasia and the like =)

Game cube is actually pretty sweet. Especially since its only $99. Eternal Darkness is one of the coolest games ever made as is Metroid Prime =)

metroid prime is teh win. FF crystal chronicles wuwuw if you have a bunch of GBA's sittin around.. also teh mario kart is oarsome.

Some games don't exist for the PC that exist for the PS2 or XBox. For whatever reason. I find that sports games play better on the PS2 than on my computer. I even have a decent computer. They just run smoother on the PS2.

I categorically disagree! There is replay value, you just have to wait awhile before you play again.

Reason one: We have friends in reality, so in essance unless we're playing something like an RPG, or adventuresque game, we aren't playing alone. Those who'd assume all console players play these games alone frighten me with thier no-logics ;__;
Two:Saddly there are several types of games the PC f*****g eats at. The traditional RPG for one. The fact remains that even when a comp gets a ported title from the library of the PS(2) it generally detracts from not only the game as a whole as you're playing something late, but it usually runs worse in terms of what I've sampled. Another lacking genre on the PC would be fight games. f****d if I'm using some 80$ peripheral just so I can play my free GGX Rom.
Third was touched on in the last paragraph: Control. There's something to be said for the default control system of most consoles. They're generally easy to use, and don't require memorizing half a million key combinations, that is, unless you're playing Mortal Kombat. Saddly, though PC games generally allow for a conventional controller type, they rarely make it as easy as those games designed for one.
Four: Third Party support. Square-Enix is mainly a console based company save for the latest release, Capcom, Working Designs, Konomi, SNK, Atari, Sega, Atlus etc... All are known for great games, all are console based and rooted.
