Talked to a guy at work who's the leader of a WoW guild on Bleeding Hollow. He said that most of the top Horde guys transferred to a new server and are now posting on the Blizzard forums how much of a mistake that was since they are now dealing with 1000+ person queues, since apparently Blizzard allowed transfers from 3 different realms into this one new realm, so the f*****g thing is packed. Now, WoW has been out for over a year and the same f*****g technical problems that plagued the game in beta are still present. I lag regularly in WoW even with a fairly level ping and a 10ms ping to the backbone. I remember when queues were introduced right after the game was launched and they lowered the number of people per realm from like 4000 to 2500 and Blizzard was caught with their pants down when people wanted to transfer off of their packed, laggy realms onto mostly empty ones, and Blizzard had no mechanism for allowing server transfers - something EQ had offerred for years. Blizzard is probably making upwards of $20 million a month on WoW; the fact that they haven't resolved these issues is a testament to ineptitude -- I've rarely experienced the WoW-type lag in EQ on any server.
I quit EQ because I was tired of s****y, boring, unimaginitive content; lame game mechanics; the ever present nerf bat; the AA grind; and the 6-month expansion cycle. I got tired of WoW because at level 60 it ceased to be viable for the casual player (with no intention of keying for Onyxia, or farming instances in general) and gay technical issues like the one described above -- I was hit by the queue on a nightly basis during the end of my time in WoW (July-Aug '05).
So the poll question is, considering the failings of Sony and Blizzard (not just limited to EQ and WoW -- Planetside and SWG were pretty terrible from what I heard, and Blizzard doesn't seem to care about the Diablo hacks (like the duping program advertised on Realpoor)), which company do you think sucks the most ass?

i hate blizzard for one simple fact.
It's confusing to me when i play EQ with 6+ (yes seriously) accounts on the US servers they have i have zero lag whatsoever, i can be downloading porn up the ying yang and i can play.
but when i log into the WOW us servesr from europe i consistently have 1200+ or more ping rates and lag completely.
You cannot tell me that is because i am in europe (which is what blizzard keeps telling me).
I have a 12mbit line yet because i'm in europe i lag. f**k that.
They specifically make it impossible for you to play from europe to force you onto their french s****y servers.
Blizzard f**k YOU!

I voted sony, because of complete lack of CS. Never had to deal with Blizzards though, but I assume it can only get better.

everquest was horrible from the beginning too but i do agree blizzard is slacking bad on its hardware/connections.
Im just gonna assume their provider sucks ass and its not actually their fault. As didnt they even say something was their fault recently? I know on the server i was playing on EVERY monday it was impossible to play on the server. Not just during peak times but all damn day the lag was horrible. In the evening it was impossible to play at all. This last week it started on sunday.
But i canceled my account again so i dont really care, maybe ill renew if a new server comes out or for the expansion but I can't level characters anymore. Botting is the only thing I do with my account then pvp some.

for the most part, i really liked EQ's gms
but i quit during velious, heard it went really downhill from there
i guess it was during the 1st 6+ months when TM only had like
1200-1500 people on a peak times, i could play and download
over a 56k dialup. then the pop went up to over 2,000 and it got
to where i couldnt do that anymore.
i was disappointed with WoW, besides the look, i don't think
they really made that many advances, i was excepting something
more.

I know some people don't like it in PvP games...but Blizzard either needs to stop sucking on the connection end, or create zones. I think half the reason that game lags so bad is because they are trying to simultaneously host a whole world, as opposed to breaking it up into zones. Maybe this isn't a problem, but I think it would be. Oh, and yes GM's are shit in EQ. They like don't even exist anymore.

I cannot play my higher level accounts on Wow because when I can get in, it lags so bad it is ridiculous. So I have low-level toons on other servers that I am unhappy with.
But I still voted EQ. EQ loves to gank/spank it's paying customers badly and anywhere else in life, their bait and switch tactics on so many levels would earn them class action lawsuits.
As a case in point, I will use the personal tribute system as an example. When it came out, they set up people in your hometown who would take your items and give you tribute points. So some people (like me) emptied trader mules of useless crap and got what they (and Sony supposedly) deemed to be a fair amount of tribute value for their items. No games, no stupid shit, just mules with crap on em that we already had.
Three days later they decide it is in fact too much value and rob people of their tribute points but do not offer the option to be rolled back/given back their items instead. Just too bad, so sad, f**k you for your stuff. That's like selling someone a car with certain options, then coming along a week later and saying, "we changed our minds, you owe more for these" and taking off the f*****g tires. The items were still worth more plat than they were points when they were done, and that is first class robbery.
Another case in point is the recent rollbacks when they decided someone was taking advantage of some tradeskill item crap. Even though you didn't DO anything with it, if you had one of those items, did a trade with anyone who had one of those items, or did a combine with that item for someone, you got rolled back. People lost flags, lost high-end raid loot, and got another too bad so sad you're f****d message from Sony, and an "oh here is some double xp, that should fix it!".
We had to roll you back cuz we cannot take the time to discern if you are honest or not?
Oh, ok, so you can rollback toons when it benefits you, but not when it repairs them? What the f**k ever.
Though I still pay to play, Sony can go f**k itself.
