First off...if you join the military for the 4 year college plan...then suddenly find yourself in the midst of a war...cry me a f*****g river...you know EXACTLY what could happen...boo f*****g hoo.
And just because the founding fathers meant to protest your well being...doesn't mean it has to come in the form of f*****g hand outs. That 2 years in the military = 4 years of college is a veritable black hole in the making...the 4 years in the military = 4 years of college is still getting deadbeats...just like Khrath said...so imagine how f****d the military would be with Kerry's plan.

I'm a patriotic redneck a*****e and I will be enlisting in the Marines when I graduate so stop reading now if that offends ya.
I am perfectly willing to put my life in the hands of a good soldier next to me..one that WANTS to be there like I do. But to be honest anyone who joins just to get the $$ for school can f*****g rot. I don't want some shit bum who was "suckered" into a war fighting next to me and putting me in danger because he doesn't want to be there. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for the schooling as a *reward* for wanting to serve your country..hell I will probably use it myself though I want to make the Marines my career.
The guys who have gone AWOL or asked for CO status because fighting in a war is "against their morales" or whatever f*****g reason make me wonder what goes through their head when they join the MILITARY(ya know, the thing that fights in wars!). I worry about the overall power and ability of our military when we have people who hate what it does but join anyway thinking they won't have to fight. Anyway if you read this far don't pay me any attention I'm a right-wing nutjob who loves GW and thinks we need a larger standing army.

It's NHL, as in Hockey Team, as in the only thing black is the puck.
While that's not quite true, (big Hoo-Yah to Master Chief Robinson), it's pretty close.
And actually, I had a full ride...swimming scholarship to UW-Madison, and dropped out to enlist in the Navy. (Kinda the backwards college plan). School just wasn't for me at the time. I was a punk, my grades sucked. I knew I needed a kick in the ass. I'm currently working on a PH.D
I could write a few paragraphs on what I've gained from the military, but, (no offense intended) you folks really don't interest me enough to do so. Continue thinking there is nothing to gain besides cash for college if you wish, but you're making a big mistake.

Military is all cool until you find out that shooting works on both side. My grand, grand daddy went to the second world war and even tought he only got some minor wound he would still think about the friend he saw dying during the war.

have you been in combat? I have.
have you held a friend after a round went through your campsite and had him die in your arms? I have.
have you been in a house when the teenage son found out that his dad was killed? I have.
Those are the days that you wish you never had or have to see....its the cost that we in the military pay. Its the price for the freedoms that are given to my country. Its the sacrifice that I make to ensure my son and those children of those that work at walmart have a future.
Then there are those days that are grand. The day that you find the missing child and return her home. The time that my partner got married to the man that she met in Rome. The voyage to Spain on a old ass Carrier. Many many more.....
Yeah the military can suck but I can honestly say that it is the best time of my life.

I would love to hear both of you say that again if you would get a bullet well placed or actually been in a fierce battle in which many of your close friends get killed.
Military is all cool until you find out that shooting works on both side. My grand, grand daddy went to the second world war and even tought he only got some minor wound he would still think about the friend he saw dying during the war.
