I just got my first thing of contacts, and I just realized I don't know which ones go in which eyes. There are squares next to "left" and "right" on one side of the box but nobody f*****g checked them. Is there something in the serial number? I looked at the prescription on both lenses and there are a couple numbers that don't match...

CYL: -0.75 and -1.25
AX: 10 and 150
LOT: W44097022 and W44095384
Serial number: 785810218738 and 785810218691

Anyone know? I threw out my trial lenses last night and really don't feel like wearing glasses.

uh there's no such thing as a right eye contact and a left eye contact.....people whose eyes are the same can interchange them.

Look on your perscription and then compare it to the box, or just call your doctor, the receptionist will have the info on file no doubt.

Know what OD/OS stands for? I'm assuming one basically means left eye and the other one means right.

Mine have always had the boxes checked..sucks for you! Seriously though I don't know how to tell from all the shit on the box; I got lucky this time and both eyes are the same so I just grab two packs when I change them out. Just call the doc.

there most certainly is a left and right contact hun.
if your script is different , like mine Wink

call you Dr and ask, they'll be able to tell you which is which but it should be marked on the box somewhere

but for reference sake:

OS (lens prescription): Abbreviation of "oculus sinister." Latin for "left eye."

By contrast, OD stands for "oculus dexter" which is Latin for the right eye.

I think what Khraft meant is that you could put a left contact in your right eye and it wouldn't be shaped wrong, just the wrong prescription. They're in now though, so it's all good.

not if your eyes are the same =p

i have the exact same power and curve on both eyes, I pick up a box of contacts, take two out and put em in either eye.

There is no left eye only contact, the only way of knowing which is which is by your perscription.

That's what I meant

I have a different astigmatism in each eye. One makes the vision squashed horizontally, the other squashed vertically. Interesting to see what should be a circle turn into two ovals, making a +, without contacts or glasses. Razz

Jason cheated on Medea, thus leading her to poison his lover and her father, and kill their (Jason and Medea's) sons with a knife.

You only have a partial Rx for toric contact lenses. You need a Spherical component (how far/nearsighted you are....and its missing), a cylindrical component and an axis for each eye.

If you have an eyeglass Rx, compare the axis and the amount of astigmatism you have in each eye to that of the contacts...It should match up fairly closely.

If you don't have your eyeglass Rx, then trial and error is your friend.

You can always call your doc's office or the place you ordered your cl's and they will have it on file.

im like 20/500 in my left(think its worse then that now) and like 20/100 in the right, not very hard for me to tell which contact goes in which eye even if i mix them up. I think im legally blind in my left eye neat.
