It looks a little gimmicky, but the possibilities are pretty intense. No more having to buy a specific controller so you can play that one game that you like to play every few months, it's all in one.

I'm probably going to pick one up. Nintendo tends to push the boundries of what console games can do, somtimes they fail, and sometimes it's a huge success. You have to admire a company that's willing to take such a huge risk like this though.

They have to. Without an original marketing scheme X-Box 360 and PS3 will absolutely crush it.

I hate xbox so doubt I'll get a xbox360. I'm definately getting a revolution when it comes out for the ability to download older games to play on the console and such and for Metroid Prime 3. ps3 will probably be the best system to get for rpg type games again as usual, but that'll be pretty much the only reason why I'll pick up a ps3, oh and I hate the ps3's controller, too curved out and stupid looking.

Yea, I know, just don't like the xbox that much, huge fek system, not many games on it I like other than Halo 1, KoTR 1 and 2, Fabled, and a couple of other games.

I pre-ordered the Xbox 360 months ago, but I'll probably pawn it off on someone in my office for triple the price and use the profit to score both a PS3 & Revolution when they come out. I am just too disappointed with the lack of HD-DVD/Blu-Ray in the Xbox 360, and only one or two new titles even remotely interest me.

I dunno, i cant see the average populace as having the coordination to use a controller that requires actual movements, rather than pushing buttons.

It depends. we used to play links with a golf controller years back, but sucked at it, but I cant see playing ddr or sambadeomigo with buttons.

Along the same lines of the motion controllers. Older news, but oh well.

Onimusha 3 unsheathes katana controller
Capcom licenses a Samurai-sword-style device for use with its with hack-and-slash actioner. Game-controller manufacturer Hori Japan is releasing an interesting official tie-in for Capcom's upcoming Onimusha 3. Modeled after a Japanese katana sword, the wireless "Soul Controller" measures three feet, two inches (96.5cm) in length, has gold accents, and even comes with a ceremonial stand. The controller also has a 17 foot (5 meter) range, and will last five hours on three AA batteries.
According to Capcom, the Soul Controller uses a motion-capture device to let players physically emulate the Onimusha series' hack-and-slash swordplay by swinging the sword to attack. (The weight-employing system is similar to one used in baseball-bat game peripherals) The sword will also have a full PS2 controller button array in its hilt, for when gamers get tired.
However, the Soul Controller won't just make gamers' arms sore--at $160 to $190 a pop, it will also likely hurt their pocketbooks. |
