I have Netflix now and I mostly like it but figured I'd try blockbuster since it was $3 cheaper and they give 2 free game rentals a month, once a month I can get unlazy and go pirate two xbox games.

Now I'm wondering which to keep.. Netflix ships from and receives to San Jose or SF and Blockbuster Ships from/to Sacramento.

With Netflix it seems that anything I send out today, they'll have tomorrow and I'll have a new one on the way. Blockbuster seems like I ship Monday, they get it Wed and then ship either Wed/Thur. I've only gotten 6 dvd's through them during my free trial so maybe I just had bad luck.

Anyone have other experiences with Blockbuster? I like Netflix and may just keep them, but for some reason I'm tempted by the 2 free game rentals..

Agreed. Also, Netflix is planning some sort of download service from what I understand too, so you could be getting stuff even faster in the near future.

Luckily the blockbuster thats well within walking distance (its just over a mile away) has a fairly good selection and since I have the Unlimited rental pass thing, I go there quite often. If it wasn't for that though, I would be using Netflix.

been wonder how the netflix dealo will work

Quote:
Netflix is poised to test its long-awaited Internet movie download service, which would broaden its rental business beyond its current DVDs-by-mail offering and fulfill the promise of its name.

Well-placed industry sources confirmed Friday that the Los Gatos company is close to launching an on-demand rental service that is paired with a Netflix-provided television set-top box.

``We have said we're committed to testing a product this year and we expect the test to be of a very modest nature,'' said Netflix spokesman Ken Ross, who declined to discuss the timing of the launch or the nature of the service.

Netflix and
TiVo announced last fall that they were jointly developing a service to deliver movies over the Internet. That service, to make its debut sometime this year, would allow those who own TiVo digital video recorders to download and potentially store films they've ordered online.

A TiVo spokeswoman declined to comment Friday.

I like how Blockbuster declared:

"No more late fees! at participating stores".

And of course no stores participated.

So in other words... you don't use either service.

id pay the extra 3 bucks to support the people who came up with this fantastic idea in the first place rather than the blockbuster f*****s who have charged me a billion late fees.

i have never had an issue with netflix and i will continue to use them till i do .
