I had no f*****g idea. This is bordering on ridiculous and takes away from the story by being a distraction.

I personally enjoyed the green on sundays comment. You're a clever one, Silver. You're wit is always something I look foward to when entering realpoor.

Ok, enough ass kissing for now. Talk to you later!

If it was more realistic violence then sure, but everything was setup to look so fake (at least most of it). A violent move was The Passion... this was like watching Anime (which it was supposed to seem like). It wasn't even worth desensitizing myself to it...

Quentin Tarantino is a f*****g genius. Anyone who's seen "Pulp Fiction", or "Reservoir Dogs" know what to expect in a QT film. Good ol' fashioned violent fun for the whole family.

The violence is part of his unique style. It's hard to explain unless you're part of the Tarrantinoness. Smile

QTs unique style that he borrowed from several different sources.

There's nothing unique about Kill Bill.

Actually yes he is.
He's even a pretty decent actor as evinced in Alias and Resevour dogs.

I think his coolest moment was in Pulp when he wrote the scenario where Butch was choosing the weapons in pawn shop that he was going to use to go back and save Marcellas Wallace.

Kill Bill was intentionally not unique. It's supposed to have ridiculously disproportionate amounts of blood because it's mimicking Japanese Anime. Watch something like Vampire Hunter D or whatever that was and you'll see obvious similarities.

As for violence? Real violence is realistic shit, Kill Bill is borderline hilarious amounts of blood spewing out of everything for no good reason. It's not violent at all.

After watching Vol.2 , you'll wish there had been huge gory fight scenes, instead of 5 second fight scenes and non-stop, uninteresting, unwitty dialogue.

pulp fiction is in a zone of its own though, nothing much can compete with it.

I thought Starship Troopers was more violent in a realistic way. Kill Bill was rather sureal. At least with QT, when it was reaaaaly bloody, it was black and white. Kinda makes it subtle, yet keeping all of the fun in.

Kill Bill Vol I was an homage to Sonny Chiba and of of course the gratuitous violence that is expressed in Japanese anime today. Sonny Chiba's characters like the the lone samurai/vigilante/desperado depicted in his movies were quite violent in it's day with flying limbs, blood etc. QT's movies are usually pretty kinetic but what makes his movies work is the dialogue, not the action.

I tried watching Vol. 1 but it sucked so badly I couldn't put myself through the torture of watching the whole thing. I guess it being influenced by/based on anime would explain my distaste for it, as I don't like that either.

The black and white thing wasn't QT's choice. He had to put it in black and white to keep the movie R instead of NC-17.
