I'm nearing 20,000 points, and I'm thinking of nanites. I've got the tech, but I'm not sure if it's time yet. It's gonna be a huge hit on my resources, but I've heard the investment's worth it. So, at what point count did you guys get your level 1 nanite factories? Is there some general recommended guideline I should stick to? TIA.

Me, somewhere at 30 k points the last time, IIRC. Generally, the strategy guide suggests most people take their first level of nanite at somewhere between 25 and 40 thousand points, but YMMV. If you really need it (like, if your shipyard queue is really long) you might want to get it earlier, especialy if you're a raider. If you are tight with resources, you should wait a little longer, because if you're not bringing in ebnough loot, the nanites are effectively useless. So it's all up to you, really.

I got my First level of nanite at 17.5k points >_>
4 days of saving, but I tell you... IT IS WORTH IT.

i recommend you wait, ive been up to over 250k points, it's more affordable much higher, I got mine at 60k when i mined over 1 million metal a day between my planets. it's not too pivotal but you will wish you got it earlier, but don't break the bank just to get it. Believe me your upgrades don't take that long, i can guarantee my shortest mine upgrade with nanite 2 is longer than your longest atm.
