|
|
|
So I've been shopping around for a higher end pc and have found that most of the bigger names are priced about the same and to have it built in town with what I want is actually more expensive. And no way am I going to attempt to build it myself
So I ordered an Alienware Aurora 7500. I did it online. They got my money and I see this little box with my order number....and that's it.
I can log that in and see that my order is in the queue but I guess I expect more for my $3k.
No thank you ma'am, no receipt, no list of what I had ordered so that I can double check that I got it all right...... nuthin. The next day I get an email trying to get me to buy an extended warranty.
I 've emailed them, now that's in a queue for response. I dunno, Dell whom I dislike alot, seems to have much better customer service.
Anyway, that's my little rant for the day. Time to go pull weeds in the yard.

Alienware is hellaexpensive, I've never ordered from them (or anyone I always build my own) but for their prices they should send a h****r to your door with a receipt.

A friend of mine a couple years ago was going to order from them...I ended up building the exact system, minus the case, for 40% less than what Alienware wanted. What a ripoff.

Building PC's isn't exactly rocket science either. Basically you just plug everything in and install the software although it seems like there is always something that comes up and causes me to rip large clumps of hair out of my head.

they are based out of miami and customer support is non existant. took me almost 4 montsh just to get my order correct. but the systems are awesome.
get in touch with rooty, he can help you out big time. don't expect much. they do assmble everything by hand, so it is sorta personal.
i have a M7700 laptop and i formated with XP and drivers and shit, and it runs slower than fully loaded alienware restore CD with all the crap software. i don't know what they do to it, but it runs very good on their install image.

Maybe someday I will try to build a computer myself, I know a couple of people that could help if I got in a bind. Until then, I dont mind paying the price. I did configure several different computers at different companies and for what I wanted, they were all about the same price. This is a business computer, so its a write off.

I have an aurora alx system and the performance is great. The customer service from alienware is the WORST I have ever experienced. Think you get customer service for the big $ you spend? Think again.
I love my system, but if anything serious goes wrong with it I'm hosed. I wouldn't buy a system from them again.

Haha sorry but we have no support in India so i doubt you got a hindu guy, spanish guy i can believe.
As for price and all that you need to understand the people we target, we don't go after computer geeks that know how to build systems or internet power shoppers that hunt for the best deals.
We go for the young teen to young adult who has money to spend likes the cool name and shape and wants it now, now now!
As for your issues about not getting a receipt you should have received an e-mail after you placed your order, so that is weird. We are working on adding more details and options when you order so you can get more information from the website, make changes, see what you ordered ect.
Support is always hard, truth is all companies try to higher cheap for basic customer and tech support and when you hire cheap you get cheap, they try their best but until the market pays these people better you will be hard pressed to find top service every call.

If GEICO can give me the best customer service ever in the history of the universe and still offer the lowest rates then why can't Alienware offer decent service while charging insane prices?

Aha, so I was missing an important step in not receiving the email. Since then, my inquiry has been answered and I have all I need from them at this time. It was just odd to me that I had purchased items from companies at 1% of the price and received more immediate response. thanks for your reply Reeeeeeeeeebo!

Yeah buying any computer from any major retail store or company is just a waste of money if you want anything high end. They do have some good deals though if your looking for a piece of shit computer where you want to spent like 200 bucks, you can get a crap machine but it will work.
I just spent a grand like two weeks ago and I have to say I built a damn nice computer, but I am shocked to not see SATA2 on the MB, since that is what I built, made sure it was SATA2 and not 1. And with SATA it's even easier to put a computer together, not useing the IDE cables. It took me what 20min to put the machine together, the woman wanted a pretty tower though, really not what I would of gotten, but she wanted it. The biggest pain for me though is setting up the wires from the case to the MB, to put them all in the right spots since the damn shit is so small!
But yeah I went to BestBuys and they wanted more then 2500 bucks for what I built, makes me laugh at how dumb people are at times wasting cash on computers.

Unless you're doing your taxes on them, getting an education or something actually useful, all money spent on computers is a waste. Surfing the net and booking travel plans doesn't count, since the $60 you save once per year on flights to Shitville USA wouldn't buy a computer, and you were able to fly and travel long before PCs jumped into our lives and soaked up all our f*****g time shit eating c*******s

VOLUME VOLUME VOLUME!!!
GEICO is dealing with Billions of $$ and sell something that most everyone HAS to have by law.
Alienware just wants you to overpay for something a small % of people want.

I disagree; just having a computer in the house can help you. The main reason I got into PC’s is because my uncle had a TI-80 back in the day, I did math on it played games and it started me in computer way ahead of any of the kids at my school (we are talking 1990)
Just playing EQ and typing really fast helped me get jobs because I can type fast and accurate. Learning how to do even simple tasks on the computer can prepare you for jobs or help you get better jobs. A computer is about the best investment that you can make that covers, convenience, education and entertainment all in one.
Just because some people become EQ or BF2 junkies does not mean buying a computer is useless and I have saved a lot of money shopping via internet.

I am no Alienware apologist but you really can’t compare insurance to computer retail, insurance is all about getting 100% people to pay you compared to you paying about 20%. You think car insurance agencies are running out of money?
How many people never need to file a claim? Insurance companies have way more money on hand for personal than a retail company. Sure its companies fault for not wanting to pay the support staff more but this is across the board, Insurance agent isn’t the same as customer service agent, I worked customer service for blue cross blue shield and training was 4 months, training for customer service for computers is 2 weeks max.
Until a better standard is set for support workers you get what you pay for.

Anyone of you has the potential to make money using your computers.
Once I am done shooting (photographing).....wherever I may be around the US and Europe, I rely on computers to store my images, work with my images, transfer my images etc etc and I do make money at it, the price of a computer or a camera body gets replaced fairly quickly.
I think we have to consider each person's own circumstances. For me, the better my pc and all its peripherals are, the faster I can get my product out and get the checks coming in. If my pc is kinda neat looking too, that's just a whimsical plus.
My images do not even exist without a computer until they are printed and for alot of them, I never even see them printed as a photo until they come out in a magazine or advertising materials or some such, I am moving pixel data around and shipping it off.
hmm kinda weird thing for a non geek to be doing.....but its fun.

Reebo man you are wrong, and I know this because I work in the insurance bus atm, need to get back into the computer field but this for right now.
Yeah not that many people get into car acccidents, but do you how much money companies had to dish out with just for example the floods that happened in New Orleans? And how about all the hurricans that happened in FL?
All those type of situations the insurance companies have to pay out millions of dollars, and the reason they go out of business is because they run out cash to pay for all the accidents and damage at once.

Don’t get me wrong I understand that with disaster insurance its only a matter of time before you need to pay the big bucks but still think about it how many decades can someone pay into insurance before they may need it?
I was just saying most of the time insurance counts on you not needing it but you know you need to have it just in case. My aunt had auto insurance for 45 years and used it once any they paid out two thousand.

Thats why you start an insurance company, then liquidate it 10 years later for a huge profit.
