Stuff like that, and the blog Frax posted with the guys staying and keeping the datacenter up, makes me think that everyone is willing to break exactly as many rules as they need to, to get what they want, but bitterly criticize anyone who breaks more rules than them.
These guys make their way into a city that it's illegal to enter, by pretending to be active medical personal, carry several weapons, but complain that eveyone else they see has weapons too. I can sympathize with them - they're just trying to get their stuff after all. But still, everything appears to be relative. Everyone, even the looters I'm sure, think that for some reason what they're doing is special. It's just different degrees. The further up the ladder you are, the less rules you need to break, but people are no less willing to break them.

What exactly is your point?
In your wishy washy, limp wristed liberal way you seem to be equating looters, violent thugs, animals, with 2 guys trying to get back to PROTECT their property from the other people who are doing "special" things.
This is why all democrats should die.

You have got to be f*****g kidding me. Do you take a pill to make yourself such a liberal douchebag? I really see the comparasion between all of this. I mean, if it was a city of guys just driving around, surveying damage or a city of people trying to keep a data center up, would there be this much f*****g chaos? No. The looters are scum. Plain and simple. This faggy PC b******t has got to end.

First off, let's assume the poster is telling the truth, for the sake of argument. We have to have something to base comparisons on.
Now, I'm not 100% that they were complaining about people carrying weapons as much as they were complaining about people carrying weapons with the intent of using them to destroy others' property in such a way that defied the pretense that they're doing it "just to survive". These people were tearing up mansions and stealing merchandise but it wasn't stuff they could eat, it was just what savages would do, destroy things because no one was there to stop them.
I don't understand how you would be willing to compare these guys to the people tearing the city apart when they came and left without stealing anything and without accomplishing the one thing they came in to do which was to secure their homes....
I'm kind of curious how they got OUT, if they went in as active medical personnel. I'm not sure they would have been relieved just like that, altho I could be wrong.
I saw a very similar situation when I was a kid, and it was during the LA riots. Our school let out early when the first riots started and since my parents were working they sent us to my aunt's house - in Compton. I saw a lot that day. I think I may have been too young to be horrified by it but I'm serious.. the f*****g savage n*****s were walking around torching THEIR OWN CITY just because they were mad at the cops. How f*****g stupid is that? It seriously defies reason and logic. They were tearing into jewelry and furniture stores, they were torching dry cleaners and restaurants, for god's sake.. why? What did they get out of it?
There's no good reason to be doing that. The situation in NO is no different. The city is being destroyed. When the flood waters pour in these people aren't going to be able to do SHIT with the stuff they stole they're going to have to be evacuated or they're going to die in their holes like rats hoarding cheese. They don't deserve to be part of society. They aren't saving anything. They're just making it harder to rebuild the same f*****g city they're going to have to return to one day, because that's their home.
Please tell me how you make sense of a situation like this. And please tell me where it is that you draw the line at who's behaving like a normal memeber of society, who's looking out for their own best interests and who's just a plain f*****g savage.

I don't really have a point per se, I'm just making an observation. I'm not equating the looters with these guys; just saying that to me they lie along a continuum. Obviously these guys are at the "fairly good" end of the continuum, and the looters are at the "really bad" end of the continuum.
They're thinking "we need to go get our stuff and we're not trying to hurt anyone", when clearly the martial law evacuation order took into account that people would want to do that and deliberately forbade doing it, for the overall public good. But they want special dispensation.
The looters probably feel "it's the governments job to protect us - they didn't do it, so we'll take care of ourselves".
Everyone rationalizes what they do.

You are dumb, man. A law like "do not enter the city where you own property" is worlds different from "don't steal." All laws are not created equal, and many are just stupid. The one barring entry to New Orleans is for the protection of the people who want to enter.
But please, think before posting.

ROFLMAO. Actually I put my own little spin on things. I have 14 husbands. I make them all work for me every day and buy me jewelry instead of making them cook and have babies. Life is great here on Heather Ranch. =)

Where the hell were those troops days ago, when they could have nipped this in the bud? It's going to be ten times as hard to restore order now as it would have been if they'd been prepared to maintain order in the first place.

You mean, "Doesn't really mean shit"? Because it does. Poor, stupid people breed more poor, stupid people. And I know it's hard to imagine living in an area with a bunch of poor, stupid people, as I'm sure you were raised in a suburb in a nice house, but poor, stupid people do stupid things when they think they can get away with it, especially if it involves money or destruction of others' property.
