They should be. The left is getting to be more center and the right is pulling further to the right effectivly turning the center to the right... if that makes any sense.

Heh, if they eliminate the provision that would shield manufacturers of the gasoline additive MTBE from product liability lawsuits, the bill passes. This issue was key in getting five GOP senators from New England to oppose the bill. They know the score, water supplies are terribly polluted in the NE.
Tax breaks of $13 billion for the oil, gas, and coal industries are extremely unneccessary too... but whatever. It's pretty obvious who this bill was for.
Got a question: it's been agreed that eventually our government will have to reign in their budget and control tax breaks... so where does this bill fit in? It does very, very little for our future.

I disagree, Banz .. I think the Right is coming more in line with center and the left is getting more and more left ... but that is a BROAD generalization... There are individuals and issues on both sides that are pulling more one way or the other lately...
What REALLY needs to happen is the EXTREM leftists and right-wingers need to come more in line with the moderates since they represent a larger portion of the population .. IE, the Bible thumpers need to chill and the Nature freaks need to chill...

As usual. A liberal minority is trying to control the majority. What ever happened to Democracy? I thought the people elected senators to vote on these things, not get cockblocked by a 40% minority. Oh well. In the end it just hurts Democrats. Perhaps next election, Republicans will get a 60% majority.

Just for the record. It's the republicans who were filllibustering the judges last week calling it reverse fillibustering because they knew that 3 of their nominees weren't going to considered and did it in protest of that. They were whining over the fact that they wouldnt be able to get 3 federal judges in who were considered extremely conservative and the democrats would not tolerate having them appointed. The funny thing is that moderates even within the Republican party were not going to consider them also so they argued for days for really no reason.

Hey that's great, WNWS, ignore the entire bill. It does have it's good points btw, but the list of concessions to contributing corporations is gigantic.
If you truly believe the majority wants our government to kowtow to the oil industry... you're just really, really stupid.

Typical. America elected a majority to pass bills. You're in the minority. Democracy. Get it?

Anybody who isn't a socialist is considered "extremely conservative" by liberals. You people are very bigotted. If someone disagrees with you, they're a nazi. The judges in question were mainstream conservatives. Liberals are interested in despotic rule, not Democracy. They don't want the judges in, even though a majority of America does

Ohhhh I get it. So those of us who know better should just sit idly by and watch ignorant people like you wreck everything for everyone???
WOW! That's fantastic, man.
If you recall, even Republicans voted against this... Republicans who actually know about the issues presented in this bill. That should be a 'lil hint for ya... and don't get all pissy that the oil companies won't be sending part of these attempted tax breaks back to the party.
America elected the majority to pass bills in our America's best interest, and this simply isn't one of them. In cases such as these, our government has procedures to prevent malicious bills from passing... and those procedures were just exercised. They exist because they're needed.
Are you getting any of this?

Vekjr, not only are you myopic, but YOU are the one who is extremely bigoted. Where do you get that I was against these judges being appointed or not? I'm merely stating that they were considered conservative by both moderate Republicans and Democrats alike and weren't going to be considered because they would not come close to the 60% majority that the Democrats were requiring of any new judicial nominee. And besides yourself, who says that the MAJORITY of americans wanted these particuliar nominees as judges. And with respects to fillbustering, this is nothing out of the norm and is used as tool by both parties to come to common ground and if you look at statistical data considering fillibustering, historically, democrats allow a significantly higher percentage of republican nominees than republicans do of democratic appointees. And before you continue to rant about me being a nazi, you should know that I"M REPUBLICAN idiot so stfu!

Nah, I won't be bothering. This one is too obvious, the GOP was in the wrong on this bill and got called on it. This was a party bill, not America's.
Next time, maybe they won't write the damn thing behind closed doors.

lol. Yeah, I get it. You know better therefore you should get what you want. Who cares about Democratic majority!
ol·i·gar·chy ( P ) Pronunciation Key (l-gärk, l-)
n. pl. ol·i·gar·chies
1) a) Government by a few, especially by a small faction of persons or families.
b) Those making up such a government.
2) A state governed by a few persons.
I've got an idea. Let's do away with the elective process! Since the Democrats know better, we should just let them handle everything!

You don't understand one thing about this bill, WNWS, do you? You're just really chapped it's not passing.
Well take it from an environmental scientist who worked for two years in groundwater hydrology: this wasn't a good bill.
Now should we really listen to your 'majority' when, in fact, none of them have worked in the environmental field and know nothing but $$$ just because they're the 'majority?'
Jesus flippin' Christ... I sure hope your answer isn't 'yes.'

Um...judicial nominees only require a majority. Not 60%. Constitution, plz.
Why don't you provide some examples of the radically conservative actions of these judges?

Electorcal college, and please do not lecture me you walking contradiction Abi.
NWS made a comment which I do not have the time to quote about how there was a liberal minority. I was just pointing out the fact who won the popular vote.

I returned a bag of groceries
Accidentally taken off the shelf
Before the expiration date
I came back as a bag of groceries
Accidentally taken off the shelf
Before the date stamped on myself
Did a large procession wave their
Torches as my head fell in the basket,
And was everybody dancing on the casket?
Now it's over I'm dead and I haven't done anything that I want
Or, I'm still alive and there's nothing I want to do
