I have a scanner I got in like 98. The end of the cable for it looks exactly like the printer port on my motherboard. What is this called?

I need to find a PCI card so I can hook this thing up again. The card it originally came with was ISA... useless now.

Probably serial/com.

I doubt your scanner would use a printer port.

No it was a really nice high quality one. I'd rather spend the $2 for the 9-pin to 25-pin serial adapter.

I love teh high tech names they used to give computer parts. Cleverly labeling them by the number of pins they had.

WINNAR! Parallel ports are 25 pins and transmit data one byte at a time. Serial ports are 9 pins and transmit data one bit at a time.
