After that most of the poor youth of france went on a nutbag spree destroying their own neighborhoods protesting their poverty and the governments lack of helping them.
Idiots thought it was a good idea, police weren't allowed to shoot anyone (they are now GO FRANCE!), and everyone who was bored joined in.
Chaos ensued.
In short, idiots get caught and die due to own stupidity, other idiots think everyone is out to get them, burn their own house...
Rest of the world points and goes "f**k france!"

I mean.. it's your f*****g community! after you're done being a d*****t and tipping over the bus and burning down the supermarket what do you think is going to happen? the world will change? Never made the slightest bit of sense to me either. I remember being in Compton during the LA riots and the one thing I could not comprehend was "Why?" Nothing made any sense at all.

I don't think I've ever heard of a riot lasting 2 weeks before. The US cops would have brought out the tear gas and bean bag shotguns a long time ago and made the whole car burning thing seem less attractive.
I heard Jacques Chirac say that they had to be careful not to alienate the rioters.
1) They are obviously already alienated
2) They are f*****g setting hundreds of cars on fire a night
Would hate to alienate someone who was just burning down the city for no reason. That would really be a shame.

Also, it wasn't just spontaneously happening, they discovered fire bomb making factories - riots were coordinated across multiple cities. It's the beginning of the European Intifadah. They need their own state, give them Paristine and maybe they will stop.

France has a large population of muslims, most of them are poor and have no hope. What are they doing to handle it? Prohibit them from wearing headscarves in public schools and not start any programs for minorities, much less make a real effort to integrate them.
