I know a few ~50 year olds that quit EQ and look back on it as time well spent. You probably just hang out with the dumb crowd.

240 days over lets say 3.5 years:
68.57 days/year
5.71 days/month
137.14 hours/month
4.57 hours/day.

From my quick google search, thats about the same amount of time per day the average American spends watching TV. According to your logic the average American wastes their life and is addicted. Atleast in the case of EQ you were thinking to a small degree and interacting with people rather than just sitting on your ass (though you do that with EQ too).

There still isn't anyone who can attempt to answer the question though

The 240 were my days played and I quit well over 2 years ago.

EQ was evercrack and I don't know any ADULTS who quit the game and look back on it as time well spent. Not saying you didn't make glorified AOL chat room pals, or a few bucks selling accounts. I'm saying for the VAST majority of people who end up playing hrs upon hrs it was and IS a monumental waste of time.

Lets face it nerdlings, it was a chat room with colors.

I'm an adult, and i think it was time well spent. There, you know one now..

And you're an idiot for comparing your way to much play time with someone who only plays 1-2 hours a day Razz

Your perspective is skewed and wrong..

Old fart...

Idiot...

PS: it's a game..not a lifestyle Razz

Ok i'm not saying it wasn't a waste of time.

But saying that going out and playing a round of golf, or taking your sports car for a drive is any less of a waste of time is just silliness.

Tell me what it is that makes something worthwhile.

And if you can manage, I will also try to actually have an argument that doesn't include name calling.

I don't know any rounds of gold that require you to vegetating inside your house for 240 days while staring at a glass tube with the reward being nothing.

At least golf is outside, in fresh air, expending energy walking around. Thats GOOD for you. Sitting inside for 12 hrs on a "raid" is asinine.

Taking a dive is just that, fresh air, scenery, a destination. Taking a drive does not require 12 hrs chained to a chair hoping you have time to go afk and take a shit. And god forbid you have someone knock at the door while you are "playing". I remember dart getting p****d at me because company came over and i had to leave his "raid". He sent me a tell that was border line nasty. I set him straight with a quick "f**k you", ha, he never did like me.

Laughing

Again I say nerdlings, EQ was a glorified AOL chat room with cartoons.

No one likes to think of it that way though. Heh heh, I wonder why.

I learned nothing playing EQ, other than what buttons needed pushing at any particular time. At first i liked to think of the game as a sqaud lv war game. It wasn't even that. It was what it was, a time sink that forced you to drive a cartoon around. 99% of the time, the people who were running the show tried to act like they were smart with "tactics" but in the end all they were doing was regurgitating someone elses crap from the web. Translation, even more time spent reading about the "game" before the actually time sink started.

TV is TV, why do you attempt to make this very lame comparison.

The news is information and if you watch what I watch, news and science you do learn things. At least I do, maybe someone of you cannot absorb things so information in, is information lost.

I can also walk away from the TV anytime I want, or tape it to be watched later. Not so in EQ end game.

Again I say, AOL chat rooms, even ones with perty colors and cute cartoons are a waste of time.

You spend a lot of time on realpoor, i dont laugh at you.
I see you enjoy it as entertainment, not a waste of your life (if it was, you woulnd't be here right?)

I'm playing a game, i dont think of myself as a troll(pic random toon).
I have fun, and the people i know are RL people. I know many of them i met IRL (and omg, they were mostly REAL girls Razz, ask kilandra...)

Not to mention, i spend a lot of time while playing the game watching TV aswell (between waiting for slow f*****s).
Not to mention playing EQ i learned a lot of tech related shit, looking into the game mechanics llike network code, graphics rendering, and all sorts of complicated shit you woudln't even know.
Plus, i used EQ to create machinima (look that one up if you dont get it Razz), which is something that can land me a great job in the creative media field.

Not to mention the shit i learned from people in the game while talking to them waiting for those hour long raids.

You are wrong old man, face it. Your experience is not everyones.
Most people get something beneficial out of something they do often as a hobby. You just got resentment.

Feel sorry for yourself, you wasted 240 days.
I gained friends, knowledge and tons of relaxation from...well not doing shit coz of wise investments Razz

Gotta suck to be such a grouchy old nutbag )

I didn't say you learned anything in EQ. I just said you did slightly more than sit on your ass staring into nothingness. I understand perfectly what you're saying about a chatroom though since I had the same view of UO at one point and when I got sick of EQ at one time I had that view as well. That doesn't mean however that it is nothing but a chatroom, it simply means you've ceased finding ingame activities as fun and only talk to people.

My comparison with TV is because they're both hobbys which require marginal movement, involve sitting on your ass, and involve staring at glass with pictures on it. From that point of view they're the exact same sort of activity, if one is a time waster then so is the other. Even watching "worthwhile" programming such as the History Channel comes out to being no more beneficial to you than talking to people in EQ is.

I can understand your resistance to accepting the fact that a significant chunk of life was burned away in a chat room with cartoons.. I will say it again because you are not letting it SINK IN.

A CHAT ROOM with Cartoons.

Its ok. I used to give people the same line of shit. Its cheap entertainment, its relaxing(b******t) its this, its that, I "met" so many great friends....

Please....

You act like I didn't play it.

It wasn't called ever crack because it was good for people.

The first step is acceptance.

Say it with me...

Stupid...

I quit because it WASN'T social. I was stuck inside my house and stopped doing things with REAL LIVE PEOPLE. Please don't confuse my distaste for know it all children like yourself, liberals and socialists as unsociable behavior.

Thats why you kids should be restricted from owning and using computers until your are true thinking adults.

You grew up with the idea that chat rooms are preferable to real live people.

You have a sickness. You need help.
